Block Party Bash question...why is it changed

Perhaps this has been discussed elsewhere, but I can't find it.

I saw BPB at Disney's California Adventure, and I was looking forward to seeing it again at Hollywood Studios, but now that I did I was disappointed. What happened to it? There were no show stops, no trampolines, no pogo stilts, little intereraction with the audience, and no change in music like there was in California. The parade just moved along slowly with the same Celebrate disco song from start to finish.

The Hollywood Studios map designates two "party zones" just like in California. What happened.

Are you sure you were in a party zone? If so, You must have hit it on an off day- was it raining (pouring?) by any chance? If not, they were likely having some technical issues that made them run a contingency show instead... all of those things are definitely still present in the DHS version!

That's odd, we have ALL of those things you mentioned in our Block Party Bash.

The Show, depending on many situations, can run without stopping...just slower. Call it sorta a plan B. It could be due to a variety of things. I know it's happened once or twice in the past week or so.

It was not delayed, and it was not raining...the weather was beautiful. There was no announcement made about the show being changed. I had only seen it previously at DCA, so I assumed the version I saw on Sunday at DHS was representative of their version. I was viewing from Hollywood Blvd. near the entrance to Sunset Blvd., and I believe that's a party zone according to the map. I saw the parade come and go all the way past the Sorcerer's hat. I can only add that the parade moved at a snail's pace unlike at DCA where it came out very quickly, stopped to perform a lengthy show, then proceeded very quickly to the second party zone. I'm glad the show has not changed, but I'm disappointed to know that I caught it on a bad day. I enjoyed it very much at DCA, so I feel like I missed out on my chance to see it again.

As I said in the other thread...unforeseen circumstances beyond our control forced Entertainment to cancel the show stops on Sunday. They are normally included just like in the DCA version.

This used to happen a lot at DCA. Heck the last show of it was that way due to weather. To the OP, just know that it was not normal so you just think of your memory of it in DCA and it was the same there. Actually there it is a bit scary how close it is to you.

As they are painting the hat, the fumes have cused a lot of CMs to become ill around the hat (HSM cast mostly). On sunday, they canceled the rest of the HSM shows after many of the performers got sick and ran the "B mode" so no one else got sick.

Surely not... I am being gullible???

On another note, what do people think of the 'party zone' format. I like the level of interaction with the crowds but whislt waiting (at the 2nd party zone), there were alot of people around me complaining that it was taking to long or that the floats must have broken down!

What does HSM B-Mode consist of?

Just to be negative, I have to say that I find the streets of DHS to be a tad too narrow to allow true appreciation of the performers talents.

It consisted of the major floats, without the trampolines and traffic cones, passing by while the song Celebrate Good Times played continuously and the green army men spoke to the crowd. The dancers performed on the ground while the floats proceeded in a slow moving parade-style with no stopping. The parade lasted about 12 minutes, and it was enjoyable but not nearly as diverse and energetic as the normal BPB presentation. The biggest drawback was the lack of excitement from not having trampolines, pogo stilts, scooters, etc. to work with and the repetitive music loop consisting of one song.

I JUST posted this in another thread....and now i find this one!

I have copied the text to here, as it relates to the topic on hand:

------

I saw the Fl version for the first time this past Friday, and it was pretty much identical to the CA version. Lots of energy, bouncing, ball tossings, interactions, you name it. The Cast did a awesome job. I am SO happy that they were able to keep most of the activities...there was a time when it looked as if the FL version would be very dull!

I liked it so much i returned Sunday afternoon to see it again, however they must have been having technical issues. There was NO threat of rain whatsoever..it was a beautiful afternoon, but there were no show stops. They did a straight shot from gate to gate...and before the last float reached the exit gate the parade music ended too soon! Yeah it was very strange...a total goof-up. The green army man on the Bugs' float simply did the best he could, saying ' Pay no attention to this huge bug float passing by you now....". He then starting humming the parade music...ha ha..it was so random seeing a Disney Park Parade with NO MUSIC!!!

My guess was that the towers that rise up out of the play-block floats that present The Incredibles were not working. This would explain why they could not do the show stops. The Incredibles and Frozon(sp?) were instead placed on the floats. It was strange seeing Mr. Incredible on the Monsters' float..i will say this!

Yeah it was a interesting version..glad i saw it, though it pales in comparison to the usual version.

I actually share your sentiment. I like the parade but it would be much better if viewed from about 10 or 15 feet further away. Right now it is like sitting at the front row of a movie theater.
