I will be arriving at WDW on my bday and we were going to wander over to Downtown Disney and I was wondering what dessert ideas ya'll might have that I could endulge for my birthday? :slurp:

We will be getting down there late evening so we would have already eaten dinner and this first night is just an early arrival because our 5-night stay will actually start the next day at ASMovies.

It will be me, my wife and my two girls (10 & 7). Thanks for any input!

Probably wouldn't work since you will have already had dinner, but I spent this past birthday at WDW (arrived on my b-day as well). Our first night, we ate at Boma (AKL). I was pleasantly surprised at the end of the meal with a Zebra Dome CAKE!!

Seriously, just when you think your parents are a little out of touch with what's "cool", they bust out a Zebra Dome Cake!

This cake was about 8" across and was made by the Boma Pastry Chef by special order. My Dad had called weeks ahead of time and asked about it. They had several "usual" cakes that they make...then the guy hesitated and said, "Well, we do have one more kind...the Zebra Dome Cake"

"Scrumptuous!" does not even begin to describe the taste of the thing!
My guess is, it probably wasn't cheap, but it was EXCELLENT!

Chances are, they could make one for take-out, but I don't know.
FYI, my Dad had to call AKL/Boma directly to make these arrangements.

Have a great birthday! What better place to spend it than WDW!

I also spent my birthday dinner at Boma, and our server brought out a HUGE plate of deep-fried Oreo's. He warned me that I was not to use a napkin or fork to eat them. Oh goodness were they good! :slurp: I've eaten at Boma well over 10 times and have never seen them on the dessert table, but they sure should be!

We did the Kitchen Sink for my dad's birthday and it was amazing. Had 5 of us and we still didn't finish it all the way, but there's nothing better than digging into a mountain of ice cream and being surprised with every bite.

I've had the Earthquake and Volcano at Ghiradelli's and Rainforest Cafe, respectfully, and both are also really good.

I like Ghirardelli's. Each time I go to WDW I make a point to get a chocolate soda at least once durning my trip. It has chocolate ice cream with some soda in it. It is a drink and ice cream. It is topped with whipped cream and a cherry. Some might not think it is anything special, but I don't live near a Ghirardelli's so it is a treat for me (along with the dole whip). They are both is yummy and wish I could have one on my b-day! :slurp:

They brought out the fried Oreos for my parents' anniversary too! Thanks to Chef Jamie! At first it sounded kinda gross, but I couldn't stop eating them! Those things should be illegal!

And a Zebra Dome CAKE?! AHH!!! Sounds divine!

I haven't tried the rest of the stuff everyone else has suggested...but I can testify that the Volcano is really wonderful :)
And I just wonder what Wolfgang has to offer in his restaurant....

Volcanos, Earthquakes, Kitchen Sinks! These all sound great!:slurp: I think that I will have to try that Kitchen Sink thingy another time because we are planning on DD and some of the shops in particular. Great ideas from all and I can't wait to try some! It sounds like Ghirardelli's is probably the place to go! Anyone have a picture of this Earthquake Dessert?

I don't know what it looks like. Although Ghirardelli gets crowded at night, so if you're eating at Rainforest, you might as well order a Volcano!

VOLCANO!!(they have to scream it)

VOOOOOOOLCAAANOOOOOOH!!!

Try the bread pudding at Ragland Road - it is insanely good! It comes with a hot butterscotch sauce that is amazing!!!

Oy! I love bread pudding!
