Biggest ripoff at WDW?

It really all depends on where you are from in the world when you try to look at prices. What sounds like a lot to some people, is nothing to others, median incomes vary depending on where you are. To cross a couple bridges and to go through a tunnel by me could put you back $30 one way, thats more then some people spend on gas in a week. It all really depends on where you are from, this isnt really a topic that can be argued. I feel like all the prices are just fine but thats because I live outside of a major city. Paying $15 for all day parking?? Great deal if you compare it to the 4 hour parking garages around here. If I want a burger and fries for lunch and maybe a beer? ( for arguments sake, i dont drink) Well that beer is going to be $5, the burger is another $6-7, maybe instead of a beer id have a milkshake, well thats about $6...Starting to sound familiar? Its all location, and since Disney is open to all people of the world its inevitable that some people are going to feel as if they are paying too much, its unfortunate but hopefully those people enjoy it a little more because they feel as if they had to pay "more" then they are used to for things.

Although I agree I'd like to see extended hours during those periods, thing is - it's quality vs. quantity.

Sure, the MK might be open from 8AM to 12AM on a peak day, and 9AM to 9PM on a non-peak, but...you are getting a lot more in the shorter day than the longer one, because you quite simply can see and do so much more without the huge crowds.

That's why when people say they are going to Disney at peak times, say the middle of July or the week of Xmas, I just have to shake my head to myself and not say anything. Sure, some people don't have a choice, but to have a choice and to choose to go there at a super-busy time would just make me miserable. Crowds, heat, headaches...blech.

If anything, I'd think it would be the other way around if they tiered tickets (which they won't) - I'd expect to pay less at busy times because it's so crowded, as opposed to other times of the year, where they may close earlier but you have a far more relaxing and enjoyable time riding many more attractions that you can during "extended" hours.

I think we all get the " i can get that cheaper from .... " syndrome :) here in the uk its a known fact that when you go to any theme park the prices you pay are going to be drastically inflated " captive audience " and all that . At least you can take stuff into the Disney parks etc . i think you need to just do your research as MUSE says plan how you are going to do it , i plan from the time i get back from my last trip ( i go every other year) IMHO paying £3 for a coke is outrageous but you pay it because you are thirsty !!

IT IS WHAT IT IS :p:p:p:p:p:p:p but i do agree with alot of posts on here and we are all entitled to our opinion

Plus, if your a little computer savy...there is a way to get all of your photopass pictures straight from the photopass site for free...

Nothing I suppose, but considering we spent $75.00 on them and only got one for "free" (while looking in my hard drive for a picture my wife had erased but needed for a project and happening upon a single photopass pic), I don't consider it to be the end of the world. But your right I probably shouldn't have done it nor mentioned it on here, I apologize and never intended for someone to take it as if I was out to "steal" from Disney.

I know this comment is old but I'm one that is on a mission to buy every pressed penny in WDW. I currently have about 200 hundred of the (I believe last time I checked) 517.

If you count just the 200 I have currently I have spend about $102. I still don't think it's a ripoff since I enjoy every now and then taking out my penny books and just looking at them.

Why not utilize a park hopper for that day? Because of the lofty extra cost of a park hopper.

The idea of AK being a rip off for the price, I think, is valid, especially if you are not able to go often, for 9+ days at the world at a shot or justify an annual pass.
It's not a matter of being surprised by the park's operating hours before or after buying a ticket or a lack of planning.
It's that the charge is the same for a park only open until 5 as a park open until 9, for a LOT of money per hour.
Granted, that is not every day that AK has those hours, but it is the majority of the year.

Rolling out of bed at 11:00 while on vacation, having a meal and then wandering into the park would be a lack of planning if one is surprised of the hours and the wasting of time upon park arrival.

I do think it would be reasonable to offer free park hopping to the other parks, but not vice versa from 4:30 on if your admission is used at AK on those days when it closes at 6pm or before, kind of a one day use fast pass to be turned in at another park only after 5PM for admission to the other park.
It's not like park hopping is any quick thing, either. Figure minimum 45 minutes from walking out, getting a bus or your car, getting there, and then a re-entrance line with security to get in and get to any attraction unless you are sprinting and exceeding speed limit.

My family and I like knowing that as soon as we hand our bags in at the airport, we don't have to worry about anything else for the rest of the week. We like knowing that our room and all of our meals are paid for in advance. A vacation should not be worry some or stressful. This is exactly what Disney provides- we could not be more gracious for this! :cool:

When I really think about it, it is very expensive! But, working my butt off to save up that money and go for a week, stay at a deluxe resort...well, its just about the awesomest thing ever for me, and in the end its totally worth it! I always do the packages (dining plan, etc) so I kind of get to "not think" about what I'm spending on the trip haha....

I was going to say maybe the ponchos, but they are kinda nice ponchos! lol

I think the biggest rip off is the airfare!! :p

It has always bugged me that you have to pay to play at Frontierland Shooting Arcade. Shouldn't that come with MK park admission? I'm just sayin'!!:shrug:

I remember once my parents complained that water bottles were expensive in WDW... I went to the movies last night and one water bottle (not even a decent sized one) cost $4.50 :eek: So it could be worse :D
