11 Acts Set For 19th annual Disney Magic Kingdom Event Sept. 7-8
LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla. -- The biggest, most power-packed, most-honored lineup in Night of Joy history will feature Michael W. Smith, Kirk Franklin, Jars of Clay, Jaci Velasquez and seven other acts when Walt Disney World Resort presents its 19th annual celebration of contemporary Christian music Sept. 7-8 in the Magic Kingdom.

The entertainment lineup also includes Plus One, Salvador, Rebecca St. James, Anointed, Stacie Orrico, Rachael Lampa and Whisper Loud. Among them, the 11 acts performing during the weekend have amassed 46 Dove Awards (through 2000) and have sold more than 18 million albums. Jars of Clay scored a 2001 Grammy for If I Left The Zoo (Best Pop/Contemporary Gospel Album).

Kirk Franklin tops Friday lineup, Michael W. Smith heads Saturday bill
Night of Joy 2001 will feature performances by seven acts each evening:

Friday’s lineup - Kirk Franklin, Jars of Clay, Jaci Velasquez, Plus One, Stacie Orrico, Rachael Lampa and Salvador.

Saturday’s lineup - Michael W. Smith, Jars of Clay, Anointed, Plus One, Rebecca St. James, Salvador and Whisper Loud.
The special entertainment party begins each evening at 8 p.m. (after regular Magic Kingdom closing), with musical performances at stage locations throughout the park. Popular Magic Kingdom attractions also will be operating during Night of Joy hours, which continue until 1 a.m.

Six acts new to Night of Joy roster
Six of the acts, topped by Kirk Franklin, are Night of Joy newcomers. Other newcomers are Plus One, Salvador, Stacie Orrico, Rachael Lampa and Whisper Loud, bringing the all-time roster of Christian music acts who have played the Magic Kingdom event to 75 since Leon Patillo headlined the inaugural Night of Joy in September 1983.

The long-running series of Walt Disney World contemporary Christian music events has played to a combined audience of nearly 700,000.

Audiences have been treated to an astounding array of musical genres over the years at Night of Joy -- and the 2001 event is no exception. At least seven styles are represented: Urban (Kirk Franklin), Gospel (Anointed), Pop (Michael W. Smith), Teen Pop (Plus One, Jaci Velasquez, Rachael Lampa, Stacie Orrico and Whisper Loud), Rock (Rebecca St. James), Alternative (Jars of Clay), Latin (Jaci Velasquez and Salvador).

It looks good, I got my 2 night pass for it. This is a Big change compaired the when I was there back in 1996 for the Show. Where there was 3 night and all the same artists preformed all 3 nights of Night of Joy for 6,7, and 14 Sept. I wasn't disappointed. Hopefully I am able to get to all the Stages this year. It may not have as many ppl as the Creation Concerts, but I think that the Night of Joy is just as good or better than. See you all there.

My grandchildren will read this board. Weird thought.

I hate resurrected threads and find all post by me. The same cringeworthy feeling as hearing your own voice on a voice message or something.
