Biggest Eyesore at WDW?

How about cracked concrete/pavement, curbs, and water standing in those low areas by the curbs and in railroad track down Main Street

....the cracks, and standing water (a.k.a. ..in the engineering community, as "bird-baths") are an authentic detail torn from the pages of Walt's hometown.

.....I'm pretty sure.

No because Main Street in "Walt's Home Town" were dirt. How much do we want authenticity in this case? No curbs, just wooden step ups into the stores. When making judgments we should all try and be aware of history as it was, not as we think it should be.

Main Street, USA is not Marceline. It served as inspiration at Disneyland, but is further removed the bigger city presented at the Magic Kingdom. The streets being paved are period appropriate as the paving would have been done by the streetcar company in exchange for the right of way down the street.

I know that, but, my point was that we each have a vision of what it should look like and even Disneyland isn't close to the reality that Walt had experienced, paved or not. It is a beautified, colorful depiction meant to appeal to present day desires with a minor look into the past. I'll bet there were rain puddles on the road no matter what era you look at. So why is it an eyesore now and "absolutely nothing" like Walt's home town. It's not the standing water that makes it unrealistic, in fact, the water is probably the only thing realistic about it.

The standing water doesn't fit the romantic image. That is why it is an eyesore.

I think Main Street was modeled after Walt's first Home Town, Chicago. ;) Both he and Roy were born here in the house that their Dad actually built.

A dress code IS needed - too many wardrobe malfunctions on people who once seen require brain cleanser to forget...

Personal dress code is hiking shoes, long khakis and polo shirt. Not only does it protect guests from my artic paleness it prevents sunburn and being a food source for bloodsucking insects.

However only staying away from WDW entirely is a sure preventative for the OTHER bloodsucking creatures at Celebration Place...
