That would imply WDW isn't getting the dynamite ending.

I suppose it's better for Disney to get the disappointment over with now, as opposed to when the ride finally reopens!

That's where I am with it. Honestly, at this point, I'd rather they come up with something new for our final lift anyways. The DL finale honestly hasn't aged that well, and the effect as a whole is spotty at best most days. Removing the smoke part of the effect basically neutered it to nothing, and I can't imagine WDW is jumping at the chance to add a major fog effect that DL hasn't even bothered to maintain.

I think it would be cool if they came up with a way to create a modern version of our original finale, with the tunnel collapse.

The original tunnel collapse with the gold vein opening while the boulders fell and the walls shook and everything in motion was really great... No reason they could not do a more advanced version of that in the 21st century...not involving screens...THe problem I have always had with that ending was the way you slow-creep off the lift hill kind of killing the dynamics of the scene... It would be nice if there were a ride system that would catapult the train out of the scene making it more thrilling final run.... The DLP dives back into a mine shaft for the journey back under the river which makes it more thrilling....
I am happy for just getting the ride back with relatively fresh effects though....

The DLP finale feels shockingly fast. I had been on big thunder and Disneyland, Disney World, and even in Tokyo Disneyland before experiencing DLP's. I knew it went back under the river, I did not know it would do so with such aggression! And yes my lasting impression was "now that is a finale!!!"

The finale on the other three all feel rather lackluster and are definitely anticlimantic compared to lift hills one and two.

Back on topic walt Disney world has said that when it reopens it will have some new magic. So yes they absolutely advertised plussing of the attraction.

I hope it doesn't just stop at just adding a color change to the rainbow caverns. I guess that counts and fulfils the "new magic" promise but if I am to be honest... I had pretty low expectations and then LED lighting changes even lower than my low expectations.

The ending of the Paris version is just incredible. So unexpected, so fun!

Maybe im old school but to me the noisy chains the water dripping by the tracks and in the cave as you go up the “falling” rocks and the sound of the dynamite at end of ride with some smoke effects & a lighting effect that is wilderness not rainbow seem to me like a great way to basically bring back the ride to its original glory and call it a day. I remember as a kid being “scared” the rocks were falling on us no matter how often we rode it. The ride is gonna be down for how long and they cant make this happen. We are not reinventing the wheel here.

I agree with DLP being the best.

I know it would never happen, but getting new track and ride vehicles where they could have a combination of chain lift hills like they do now for the bulk of the ride as well as a LIMS launch coaster element for the finale; I’d die a happy man.

Basically- find a way to be more like big grizzly mountain in HK which has both chain lifts and a LIMS launch. That blows the doors off any big thunder ride.

A man can dream…
