The fountain, AND the fiber optics in the ground of the old innoventions core
There's a bunch of people who just posted that the fountain was not free from operational issues. And yet, you decided to double down on the reliability of the fountain?

The fountain may have had some problems from time to time with the show sequences, but generally was running...it was also 40 year old technology...As far as I know it was never completely overhauled with newer tech, lighting etc... It added so much as opposed to the planter...

Sure, the fountain could break. But for the most part, it didn't detract from the show. The current issue is much more of a black mark than one malfunctioning water spout on a fountain of dozens.

Disney really has some einsteins running things now. They spent all that money and it's worse looking now than it was.
Plus for some reason they put a Starbucks in the same place as the quick service. So if your eating a meal you can't find a seat. People who are just getting a Latte or whatever are sitting in them.

I'm glad you surveyed everyone who watched a FoN show over the decades in which jets were pointed in all sorts of directions -- when they were shooting any water at all -- and got from them the feedback that the broken jets didn't detract from their enjoyment of the show. You're very dedicated.

How could they? I just heard in this thread how Old WDI made them run perfectly, unlike anything they've done in the past decade.

That is a great point...no matter what bits of the show sequence might not be working temporarily, it still beats the boring planter that sits there now. I have been going to EPCOT since it opened, a ridiculous amount of times, and honestly I never saw the fountain broken that I noticed.....

I would imagine most prefer a giant fountain working at 75% to broken lights. I’m shocked that’s even a discussion. If the lighting was working as planned, we could have a discussion of what is better. But we are nearing the 1-year anniversary of broken lights around Lady Bit Planter. I’ll get the champagne.

I am not sure I even comprehend cutting a fountain or any water elements from the plan.... It was needed and necessary.... The space feels dead and pointless without something beautiful and kinetic at it's heart.
It would have been amazing to have built a 21st century version of the Tower Of The 4 Winds strattling a fountain pool at the center... Something monumental, kinetic and beautiful.

There should be some payoff if you will when you get to that location.

We now have another thing to add to the disco yeti list of things that were great but over time broke down so now they are just turned off.
