Big changes coming to Annual Passes

JenniferS

When you're the leader, you don't have to follow.
Not everybody gets "burnt out". I did 6 week-or-longer trips in 2014 and loved every minute of it.

I'm not thrilled about the changes, but it isn't the end of the world for me. Coming from Canada, the biggest cost is airfare, park tickets are a minor factor.
Thank you. I was thinking the exact same thing.

I just got off the phone with Cloe in Passholder services. You can pay the difference from your existing rate of purchase (she said $563, I am not sure that is right) to $649 plus tax and I would get photopass for the next trip. There is no prorated amount (Since my original post is probably five pages back by now, I asked because our AP expires Dec 13 and based on today, we won't be renewing). Also, you can upgrade only one pass however, to get the photos, THAT upgraded pass needs to be scanned. Meaning, since we have four APs if we only upgraded one (roughly $90), we would need to scan that pass at all Photpass Photographers.

She said I would have to upgrade in person.

My desire to use profanity and slam my fists on furniture is very strong after reading this. Basically, they're saying "thanks to those of you that renewed before these changes, but you're not going to get any of these benefits until you cough up MORE lettuce". Well, TDO, that sure as h-e-double hockey sticks isn't going to happen with us. Quite honestly, after I talk to the Mrs. about this when she wakes up we might cancel our bounceback for next September. Why should I give them another 6k when they do stuff like this?

Does this mean regular passes will be going up at WDW/DL soon?
That's a good question. I just checked on my reservations. To rent the same room on the same dates is now higher than what I've reserved. (My reservation hasn't changed, it would just be more if I did the same reservation today) So I'm wondering if prices went up across the board. Didn't ticket prices change in Feb this year?

I'm a current AP holder, and I haven't gotten anything.

LOL its sarcasm. Disney did not nor do I think they would send a letter to any passholders about these changes. At most, in the newsletter they will say "exciting new passholder benefits await you.." The selling point for them will be photo pass. Which I see no benefit for this, I am not interested in photos.

Yep.

But WDW is significantly better now than it was in Feb. particularly DHS!

Me either, I guess the pass holder survey that went out a few months ago was really about "how can we turn the screw even more".

It is a sad day for passholders both resident and non resident. When I was a non resident, I would come to disney (stay at their resorts, and only eat their food). With the escalating prices, the price of a disney world vacation is becoming soon to be impossible. But as others have said, people are still going to pay and buy into the madness. Just like FP+, all he-- broke loose and people got use to it. I guess we will get use to this as well.

Charter is not renewal. It is a special class of pass sold in the early days.

Well, there is no "renewal" for the regular AP since it no longer exists. So now you can become a "charter" of Gold (blockouts and PP) or Platinum (no blockouts and PP). Yippee! What about a new tier with no blockouts and no PP?

All those screaming " I'm DONE! " sound exactly like all my smoker friends whom say the same thing every time taxes are raised on cigarettes..... Then they light up another and another....... So yes it's high. Yes Disney makes $$$ and yes they will continue to do so. IMO you are still enjoying a pretty amazing place that really does, if only for a little while, take you away from this realty of life we all live in. ☀️ °o°

Is this true? I had (wrongly?) assumed that we could renew our current AP as platinum.
