Best / Worst food you've had at World Showcase

We are due a visit in October and a meal here was on our "to do list" too. It looked such a fantastic place!
Is this just a matter of taste or is the food genuinly a bit iffy?
In which case, surely with so many bad reviews, Disney would have remedied the problems!

I've been a half-dozen times, and I've had good experiences each time. I've tried several different things, and enjoyed all of them.

I don't understand all the hate San Angel gets online, but it clearly isn't stopping anyone from going, because it's always busy when I eat there.

Best; not sure............

WORST! - UK Fish & Chips!!!

Coming from Yorkshire in the UK, about a 20minute drive from the original Harry Ramsdens in Guiseley (the home of real British fish & chips) we have a pretty good idea what we're talking about and I took one bite of it and threw it away!

Awful! :hurl:

This is the thing!! I am from the U.K too and avoided the English food because it isnt going to taste authentic! Even if its wrapped in newspaper its not going to taste like a proper "chippy" meal.
I guess that those who have tasted the genuine artical would be the best judge of what is authentic, but that said we have 8 curry houses near us and there is only one I will eat from.
There is no counting for taste!

San Angel Inn is on my "must do" list for every trip. I've enjoyed every meal I've had there. Restaurant Marrakesh is another I've enjoyed quite a bit.

I'm trying to remember any particularly bad meals in World Showcase and I'm not coming up with much. The Chinese food at the Lotus Blossom was underwhelming, and I'm always disappointed that the Liberty Inn only serves hamburgers and fries, but that's more about philosophy than actual quality so I guess it doesn't count...

I agree with you on San Angel. love that place and atmosphere. I think alot of people expect Tex-Mex and not actual Mexican food

I am not impressed with the food in China, I expected better, can get better Chinese food back home, dont usually stop there for food nowadays :hurl:

My family’s opinion:
The Good;
We enjoyed the experience; a combination of good food, atmosphere and service, we would go back.
Le Cellier - Canada
Biergarten - Germany
Tutto Italia – Italy
Bistro du Paris - France
Restaurant Marrakesh – Morocco
Tappan Edo – Japan
Chefs du France – France

The Bad:
We did not enjoy the experience due to a combination of under whelming food and/or service.
Akerhaus – Norway
Nine Dragons – China
San Angel Inn – Mexico
Rose and Crown – United Kingdom

I haven't really had a bad meal at WDW.

Le Cellier is one of our favorites. Tony's Town Square has an amazing Chicken Parm. Sci-Fi is still one of my personal favorites... Atmosphere is superb and food is pretty good. Flame Tree BBQ has a really good pulled pork sandwich!

Worst Disney meal I ever ate was at Blue Bayou.

sorry to drift from the World Showcase theme.

We're going to WDW in June and my dad is about to book us for the San Angel Inn (Not somewhere I was looking forward to going to). Is there a reason why it's not recommended here?

San Angel does have a dicey history. It used to be one of my favorites, but as time went on it started to have problems. One was that due to the popularity they crammed too many tables in the space killing the ambiance. The quality also suffered, maybe from overbooking, but I have been more recently and things have gotten much better.

The dining room has been opened up. I'm not sure if they removed tables or just reworked them, but it is much more relaxing now, and the last two meals I've had there were great. The pavilion itself and the river running past are such great draws I hope it continues to improve.

My favorite meals at WS have always been at Le Cellier. The steaks were perfect, the bread sticks were an excellent hearty touch. It is also hands down the friendliest place in the WS. I know it is a stereotype, but the Canadians have always been beyond welcoming, and I think that is part of the appeal and success of Le Cellier.

I also took one day and ate nothing but CS. My DW and I tried just one thing from several different countries and loved them all.

I also had a surprisingly good experience on my last trip at R&C. I had always avoided it because I don't like fish and there are so many other great options in the WS. I ate there in December because we had an English lady in our group and she wanted to try it. The food and atmosphere were spectacular and it is the best place to watch Illuminations.

On a bad note I had one of the worst meals of my life at Le Chefs de France. I went because one of the girls in the party had spent years living in Paris and wanted to try it. Ate the end of the meal she was almost in tears apologizing for putting us through the meal.

I do not think our experience was representative though as I blame it on our server. She was the worst server I've ever had--anywhere. She didn't even approach our table until we had sat for almost 15 minutes. When she came up she was immediately rude and irritated that we weren't ready to order right then--of course we hadn't even ordered drinks or heard the specials. She returned with our drinks after another 15 minutes and brusquely took our order. After almost an hour we inquired about our food, which hadn't come. She never admitted it, but she forgot to put the order in to the kitchen. The food took forever and when it did come five of the six meals came out dried and disgusting, while one was extremely well prepared. I assume she messed something up and left our meals under the heat lamp while the last one was fixed.

I've never returned because I'm not a big French food fan and for 50-75 bucks a head I don't want to gamble again, and there are so many other great choices in WS.

For me the worst was the Italian Pavilion Res. Yukky maybe it's because I am Italian and I didn't think that food cut it at all. Also San Angel in the Mexician Pavilion and the Outside Res. quick service as well. Food is gross sorry guys....
The best food so far has to be California Grill in The Contemporary Hotel as well as the Food In Arkansas Res. (Breakfast) I never eaten there for another meal. Also the quick service in Morocco, not the sit down Restaurant. Those are mine for now. I am sure there are others I just can not think of right now. I think everyone should try at least one time the California Grill experiece and make sure to get a good window to watch the Firework show or go outside and watch it. It's really incredible!!!
Take care all. :sohappy:

Best - Chefs de France (even above Le Cellier!)

Worst - you've guessed it - San Angel Inn. We tried it twice just in case it was an off day and it was bad both times.

My best meal in World Showcase would be at Teppan Edo. I could eat there multiple times during one trip. I love the atmosphere and the food is delicious. The service is sometimes spotty, but recently we've had beyond exceptional service. It's a wonderful restaurant! :slurp:

I haven't really experienced a "bad" meal in World Showcase. However, I've not eaten at every place available, though I hope to someday. Right now I'll stick to my usuals though. :)

Thanks for the heads up - We changed our reservation :)

My best meal in World Showcase was at the much maligned San Angel Inn!!! I was really not looking forward to eating there after reading so many bad reviews but I'm glad we gave it a try - it was fantastic!!! Everything from the warm, fresh tortilla chips and salsa right on through appetizers, entrees, and desserts were superb!!

My worst meal in World Showcase was the rubbery fish and chips at Rose & Crown - turns my stomach just thinking about it

Really like san angel inn two years ago, was surprised because it had no tacos or burritos or combo platters, glad they didnt, cause the chimmichurri filet was fantastic. I thinkthis is why most people dont like it, they dont serve the typical tacos and burritos. Worst by far is the mexico cs. Tepan edo, you know what your getting, hibachi. Lecellier way over rated. The best, all the food samplings during food and wine festival.

Italy, Japan and Germany have been awesome each time. I dont really have one that ruined my meal.

I also like the Asian food inside The Land - its healthy, light and well priced.
If its hot out, its a great spot to stay in for awhile. I usually grab a fast pass for Soarin' >eat>Living with The Land>Lion King> then its usually close to time to get on Soarin'. / rant :D
