I am going to WDW in about a month and I wanted to do at least one tour. I was wondering if I could get some recomendations for a tour to do, like which is the best one to go on, so if anyone has any advice please leave any feedback on that, thank you :)

Keys to the kingdom is pretty good. If you are interested in seeing behind the scenes stuff it can be interesting.

I've done KttK and the Epcot Segway Tour. If you want to see the ins and outs and behind the scenes at MK do KttK. If you just want to have fun while learning about the pavilions at WS, do the Segway Tour. They are both fantastic, and well worth the money.

I just got back last week from the world and saw the segway tour for the first time...it looked so much fun. Does anyone know how much it costs? Also recommend I Dolphins in Depth at the Seas with Nemo and friends...however it can be a bit expensive.

Was a Keys to the Kingdom guide for two years, it is a great tour if you want to learn tons of trivia about the Magic Kingdom and see some backstage areas. If you want a completely backstage tour, Disney offer's Backstage Magic (it's a lot more money). It is an 8 hour tour (rather than the 4 hours of Keys) and encompasses 3 parks. It remains backstage about 90% of the time. Keys on the other hand, spends only 45 minutes backstage. On the Keys tour, you visit the production center where they store the parade floats and you also get to see the backstage area of Splash Mountain. The last part of the tour is what everyone waits for, the tunnels underneath the Magic Kingdom park.

If you have not taken any tour before, I'd definitely recommend the Keys tour. It is filled with stuff you probably would never realize about the park and gives you fun tidbits to share with friends/family on your next trip through. Plus, seeing the backstage area is really cool if you haven't before. Interestingly, most people shared that the backstage stuff was the least interesting part of the tour.

We did the Epcot Segway tour two weeks ago, and it was around $90 a person. But my husband and I agreed it was worth every cent--in fact, we would have paid even more. It was one of the most fun things we've ever done on a vacation. Highly, highly recommended! BTW, I understand there's also a Segway tour at Fort Wilderness.

Next trip, we're going to try the Keys to the Kingdom tour. There just wasn't enough time to do it all this trip.

Keys to the Kingdom is a really good tour.

Also, Behind the Seeds at The Land in Epcot is a good tour if you're interested in science or gardening. It lasts about an hour. Sign-ups are at the tour desk to the left of the entrance to Soarin'.

I would do the behind the seeds tour at epcot if you like gardening. Since I love to garden and admire my green thumb, I naturally loved the tour. Depending on when you go, hopefully you will get the best tour guide. If you go during the summer, after June 26, you maybe able to get the best tour guide on staff. You should definitely request the tour guide Harry from Ohio. He was the best because he had the wittiest comments to all of the science information. If you are still wondering, may name is not Harry and I am not a blood relative to him in any way. So my advise take that tour with Harry. I hope that helps you on your quest to find the best tour at WDW.

I've been thinking about a solo trip as everyone I know claims not to be able to afford to go to WDW...I say "how can you afford NOT TO???!!"

I have never done a tour and thought for a solo trip it might be the thing to do since it would give me some company and a different viewpoint on "the World"

Can you take pictures on the tours? Sorry if that sounds like a dumb question to those in the know but I thought that backstage they may not let you but then again...they are letting ME back there and I presume they don't "do away" with me at the end so I don't spill secrets so I thought pictures might be OK.

Also, does every park have a tour?

Thanks

Pictures are not allowed in any truly backstage location. Keys to the Kingdom and Backstage Magic both have significant portions during which photography is not allowed. However, tours such as Around the World on a Segway, the Wilderness off-road Segway Tour, and (one last shameless plug) Behind the Seeds, which all take place primarily onstage, do permit photography during most of the tour. The guide will notify the tour guests of the specific photography policies on each tour.

While each park does not have a dedicated backstage tour any more, each park is involved in at least one. Backstage Magic covers the Magic Kingdom, Epcot and Disney's Hollywood Studios. The Magic Kingdom has Keys to the Kingdom, Family Magic and Mickey's Magical Milestones. Epcot has Around the World on a Segway, Simply Segway, Behind the Seeds, Epcot Seas Aqua Tour, DiveQuest and Dolphins in Depth. Disney's Animal Kingdom offers Backstage Safari and Wild By Design. As previously mentioned, there is also an off-road Segway tour offered at the Ft. Wilderness Campground. All of these can be booked though 407-WDW-TOUR.

Also, if you take a Keys tour, definitely schedule the earliest one. Otherwise the park is open by the time the tour starts and its a pain to wade through all the guests, etc.

I took the Steam train tour in the MK. It was awesome. There were only 5 people total (2 of which were my wife and I) and we had the best guide (George - he worked @ CBS TV in Philly and worked with John Facenda aka "the voice of God" aka the voice of NFL films - he was a great guy and very nice to speak with)

You meet @ 7:00 AM outside the train station and then you get to go in to the park while all the maintenance was going on (seeing a pick-up truck on Main St was odd)

Then, it took you back-stage to the train/monorail barn where once inside, you could take pics of the trains. You helped start up a locomotive, throw a switch outside toon town and witness them filling the water tank (plus you can get your picture in front of the train when it is refilling).
It then drops you in the station and you get a little lesson on the stuff in there.

Finally, they tell you about all the train stuff at the Wilderness Lodge Villas and about the Carrolwood Pacific Railway Club and you get a special pin.

With the Disney Visa discount, it was WELL worth the price (and would be worth the price at regular rates).

I did the Behind the Seeds tour and it is a great one if you want to experience a Disney tour, get a behind-the-scenes look at a ride or wonder how they make those mickey-shaped pumpkins. I think it is the least expensive tour in Disney World ($12? when we went) which is great if you want to take a tour but don't want to spend a lot. Downside, little children will probably be bored.

I just signed up for the Keys tour today. I specifically made mine for 9:30, just so I could get a cinnamon roll at the Main Street Bakery before the tour.:slurp:
