I'm afraid we've strayed badly off topic here, but here goes.
My fave are the Epcot resorts (Boardwalk, BC & YC) because of the walking/boat access to Epcot (my fav) and MGM. There's nothing like a brisk 5 min. walk from your room to the Off Kilter stage. You feel very much like an "insider" here. When Epcot is closing & the crowds are streaming toward the exits, you are dilly-dallying over a cocktail at the Rose & Crown & casually strolling through the International Gateway to you room in minutes. The evening/night life on the Boardwalk is great, fantasic restaurants & bars, beautiful rooms. Very casual, not snobby, great pools! It's like a little world unto it's self.
My other pick is the ALK, for exactly the opposite reasons. It's in the extreme SW corner of the WDW property, near nothing but the AK. You can't even walk to the AK from there. But, the atmosphere makes you feel like you are far, far away from the world as we know it. Their dedicated bus system makes it all very easy though. No stops, no sharing with other resorts and they come every few minutes. The 3 restaurants are primo, the pool is dreamy, It's a "Calgon, take me away" place. Also, casual, no pretense.
I only go to WDW with adults, my DH or for girls weekend. We like the quieter, more adult atmosphere of these 2 resort areas. Nothing against kids at all.
I hope this helps convince you to go Deluxe!

I also tend to go with all adults usually. No DH for me, but a few good friends who are really cool about my Disney fixation as they have it also. It isnt me who needs convincinhg, it is the friends' wallet!!! Maybe in May when I go again for my Bday!!! AKL sounds more like the way Id go. Have you ever stayed at Wilderness Lodge? Belle

I agree with the bus to MGM then the boatride. If you won't have a car for your trip it's the least expensive, best way to go. I like the boat ride actually, very nice and relaxing and the boat drivers are really cool (I met some of them when I was working at International Gateway a few times).

I don't think the bus to Epcot then exiting out of the IG would work for the reasons addressed earlier: World Showcase doesn't open till 11. Also you would have a longer walk.

Well that's my two cents..

(Oh and on the hotel issue... You are making me soooo want to stay at the Boardwalk now. If I take a trip down for my 22nd birthday I think that's where I'll book my stay :))

Since we off topic anyway, here's my 2 cents. Our favorite resort is the Poly. Watching the fireworks over the Castle from the beach is awesome. I've been to Hawaii and the Poly really pulls off the tropical atmosphere. Nothing like the smell of the Poly when you first step in to check-in. Its' one of those smells you don't ever forget. Monorail and boat access to the MK make it great as well. As they say when you board the monorail at the Poly, "Aloha and Welcome aboard!"

No, I've never stayed at the Wilderness Lodge, but I do love the Ft. Wilderness Cabins. Problem with them is the distance to restaurants. They're cool though, like a little house in the woods with maid service! I always got the impression of the Wilderness Lodge as being overrun by kids. Maybe I'm wrong.
I also love the Poly, like Nansafan. Very romantic if you are with your significant other. The monorail resorts are hard to get at a discounted rate because they are most peoples first choice.

I've stayed at WL...it's truely a beautiful resort! :)

The bus service was iffy at best when I was there though - however, the boat ride between WL and MK is wonderful!

Meega, nala kwishta!
Well, back on topic, if you do drive, I suggest you use the valet parking. We visited BW a few weeks ago, and used the visiters parking (self park), man what a walk. Spend the couple of buck and do valet, your feet will thank you.
