Best way from WL to Ft Wilderness Carraige rides

We're having supper at Artist Point on Tuesday April 15 and then plan to go to Ft Wilderness for a Carraige Ride at 8:30. What's the quickest way to get from one place to the other?

I remember Samantha Brown in Great Hotels showing that there's a walking path connecting FW with WL. But I don't know how far they are apart from one another. I think we can take a boat, but how long does it take between boats if we arrive at the dock right as one is leaving? Is there any other way besides those two options?

I know we could get in our van and drive over, but I seem to recall that the FW parking lot is on the opposite end of the grounds from where the carraige ride takes off.

Take the boat. I would not walk the path at night...it is not well lit, and it is pretty deserted. Driving would take up way too much time. The boat ride is only a few minutes long, and you usually do not have to wait more than 15 minutes for a boat. We always give ourselves half and hour to get from WL to Ft Wilderness when we go to the Hoop de Doo and we have been early every time.

Thanks. I was kind of leaning towards the boat, so that's good to know. I want to save as much time as possible because this is the best available night for us to go into Kissimmee and play our traditional game of mini-golf at Pirates Island, which closes at 11 PM. And since the carraige ride will be over around 9 PM, I want to save as much time as I can so we can get to Kissimmee and have plenty of time for our mini-golf.

So when we get off the boat at FW, which way do we go for the carraige ride?

Quick side question...

So at the WL there are two "lines"... a resort line, that will take you to the CR then to FW and back to WL and then there's the Magic Kingdom line. In what order does this boat travel? Does it go directly to the Magic Kingdom or does it stop at the FW before going to the MK?

We only road the resort line and curious as to if the MK line would be a straight shot to FW instead of the resort line stopping at CR
