Good Morning Everyone..Now although I've been to WDW five times, some people in my little hamlet think I know everything Disney. Not so of course. So yesterday I was asked by a friend who had his last trip to WDW ten years ago.Now his kids have grown up and flew the nest.He wants to go back with his wife.Ten years ago they stayed at a value resort,he thinks it was Pop Century. So next year they want to push the boat out and do a 14 night vacation at WDW staying at a deluxe..Here comes his question to me.What deluxe is the best value for money.? Now I explained to him I've only done moderate resorts..So for all you deluxe experts out there, where would you recommend at Disney..? Looking at them and the prices,I would have to give my vote to AKL...Over to you..;)

Whichever he can get the best deal on from his TA/off the interweb . Personally i believe if you are looking for a cheap deal on deluxe then you would be better going all out on a mod.

For an older couple going on their own, I would have to say they should just look at the Epcot resorts. Not because they are any better than the other deluxe, just purely for the location. Epcot is by far the best park for adults to explore.

For me I think by my track record its obvious ... AKL. I always manage to get it for cheaper than any other Deluxe and I love the theming and ambiance of it. The transport distance can be a bit bothersome sometimes but the plus is that it's one bus for the AKL resort (Kidani and Jambo) compared to other resorts that share.

In terms of value you simply can't touch Wilderness Lodge. However, I think if you're doing a longer vacation at a deluxe resort you may be better off with a resort that:
A. Is a little more "in the middle of things" like Boardwalk, Beach Club or Yacht Club
B. Offers villa accommodations

While my opinion may be biased, my vote is AKL.
If it weren't for the busing this week, and on previous stays here, I really thing its AKL hands down. We reserved a standard view, but got a savanna view at check in. That makes up for the busing.

By far the best value for money is Wilderness Lodge. Being an 'older' guest myself, it is my favourite resort of all and as it is the lowest priced de-luxe (although similar to AKL) it's an easy decision for me. I can understand why others say the Boardwalk resorts but they are a lot more expensive than WL and AKL. I've had no issues with the buses/boats at WL.

It may be an idea to show your friends the photos on the various websites and see which appeal to them.
