Best tip EVER from a CM! They are the BEST!

I wish I could go back to the CM that told me to take a picture of my Photopass card (the back that is) on my phone. I would give her a BIG hug and kiss for this info. I did not think of this as I'm sure some wouldn't but I thought this is a great idea that had to be passed on because it saved my family a lot of pics. Sorry if this was posted before!
The story is that the first day we started our vacation a CM said "You should take a picture of the photopass card numbers with your smartphone in case you lose it". I think this is a genius idea and use it. Thinking I'll NEVER lose this card, it will have alot of our photo's. Well, the second to last day at HS we were in line to take a pic with Mike from Monsters Inc and handed the card to a cast member. They took pics of people before us and as they walked off then it was our turn. As we took our pics I looked for the CM I gave my card to and they were gone! So I asked the photographer for our card but they didn't have our card and the CM I gave my card to went on break. I started to freak out, along with my wife that was about to go crazy on the poor CM, then I remember the photo I took of the back of the card with the code. I went to the front of HS to the photopass shop with phone in hand. I gave the phone pic to the CM and she said that this was a great idea. She pulled up all our previous photos and loaded them to the NEW photopass card and CRISIS averted all was saved, except now we got pics of the couple before us with Mike which is kinda funny. I just hope this tip saves another families memories as it did for us. I just wish I could thank the CM again for this tip. Thats an excellent idea. I'm glad everything worked out! Do the same with your park tickets. Do the same with where you park each day. Take a snapshot of the pavement marking at the end of your row.

I always take a picture (with my phone and camera) and write down the photopass number, ticket number, and confirmation numbers. That way if I lose the number I have three different back ups in case something else gets lost/stolen.

I agree, great idea I myself don't think I would have thought of this, and I know I am forever losing things, only to find them months after of course. But still thanks for the pass along. I will dif have to remember to do this.

I tell everyone to use their smartphone or camera like this. Take photos of your photopass card, your parking location (if driving yourself), and a full length shot of your kids (especially they are old enough to dress themselves) each morning before you leave the room.

There's nothing like having a missing child and when the CM asks what they were wearing finding that you just don't remember (just frazzled but it happens all the time). Remember you child is probably with another CM who is trying to find out "Mommy's" name and sometimes the child doesn't talk at all so the more information on the parents end the better. That way when they call the "lost parent" line we can match up the nameless probably 4 year old boy wearing a red tshirt and jean shorts.

It also doesn't hurt to take a shot of the room number in your resort. You don't want to write it on your KTTW card like some people do., but the first day it's easy to forget which building/room number you're in. Also if you do package delivery they will ask for your room number and while you may be able to make a beeline to the room because you know exactly where it is...you may not be able to rattle off the number, especially since Disney numbers their rooms differently than some hotels ie room number on the 4th floor does not begin with a 4 but with the number of the building you are in.

This is a great tip. Also sign up for drop box. Set your pics to be uploaded automatically then its safe in the cloud. A loss of your phone and you have that extra backup. Drop box is free but at my count I owe them many hours of work that they have saved me.

I work at Splash Photo & I will always tell people to do that. We do the digital download so if people purchase just that I tell them too so they don't lose the photo & spent $15.93 for nothing. & If they give me their photopass I tell them the same thing. Take a picture, text the code to someone, etc so you don't lose your stuff.

We always take a picture of our parking location, as mentioned above! Also take a picture from the beginning of the aisle to how far back we are parked. With renting a car, everyone looks the same, or put something on the dashboard, like a scarf to identify your car.
I am kind of parnoid about this since we could not find our car one time. How can 2 adults not remember where we parked? lol

Well at Disney there are no lost children, only lost parents :animwink:

On my trip last month there was a 4 year old little girl outside a shop at AK crying and no parents around. Her mom had told her to wait by the door with her Dad and the kid went to the wrong door at the other side of the store was too scared to go back. The dad was with an infant and didn;t see that she wasn't right behind him.

I know a lot of people think they would know exactly how to describe their child if they were lost but it is such a panic situation that you can forget what they were wearing that day.

On this same trip I saw a lost child at the exit of Space mountain in the store. It was crowded in the store and the kid was brought to a CM and I will take a photo every morning now of the kids because like you said, in that situation the parent won't remember what they had for breakfast. I'm a volunteer fire fighter and we see this alot with people not able to remember details after an accident. I just never thought something like this could happen to me but I will be prepared.
