Best time in August to go?

Hi, I was wondering if August is a good time to go. I so badly want to take my cousin there with me and I am trying to go when it's good for both of us. Originally I thought going during Spring Break would be best, but do you think maybe the last couple weeks in August would be better? The heat doesn't bother either of us, but I would like it a little less crowded, and also, my birthday is that month and I'd love to celebrate it there, hehe!

We did Aug 1st - 21st in 06. The crowds were lighter than anticipated in the first week, heavy in week two and quietened down somewhat in week three. 1st - 7th was the quietest week for us

In 2006 we were there during the last two weeks in August and we had a great time. It was not as crowded as 4th of July but not as empty as during September 2005. Enjoy!

Last weeks

We went this year during the July 4th week (My Birthday). We had a great time. It was not our first time so we were able to manage the crowd. 2 years before that we went the last week in August, just as hot but not as crowded. Prices drop too. To me any time is a good time to go. Just have a plan

The last weeks in August will have lighter crowds as many of the kids are back in school. It is hot but it is a great time to go. Good luck in your choice!

We have went the last week of August into September for the past two years. Crowds are very light as others have said because most schools are back in session. It is hot but I love the heat anyway so it is one of my favorite times to go.

August is a nice time to go, to me at least. First thing, as you mentioned, you MUST be able to tolerate hot weather. It will be hot. Possibly extremely hot.

Assuming that you're OK with that, the crowds are moderate to mild (way, WAY better than Spring Break from my experience.) If you go, drink lots of water and remember your sunscreen and have fun!

Crowds can either be kinda light (historically they are lighter the second half of august) but the last couple years they seem to have crowds of tourists from South America. That may have been a special tour.

Its going to be hot here. August is our hottest month and most humid.
The heat is bearable but the humidity is what will get you every time.

We like to go the second half of August, too. The crowds are not too bad. It is very hot and humid, but hasn't rained often when we have been there. Free dining starts Aug 23 so that may add to the crowd some.

AUGUST we MUST

There are 2 things to know. First, the Florida public schools start mid August (it used to be early August), so the crowds may be down a little after the second full weekend. HOWEVER, that is also the beginning of the Monsoon season. If you are lucky, there will only be a storm in the late afternoon, then clearing for an incredile night sky. If you are not lucky, we have hurricanes that time of year. Though they rarely hit WDW, they do effect transportation in and out of the area. So you pays yer money and takes yer chances. I would personally suggest right around the 2nd weekend in August - the crowds actully go down a little and the bad storms are likely a few weeks away. We used to visit during early August, and as long as you take a break in the afternoon to recover from the ehat, it is a great time to be at WDW.

This past summer I went last week of July and first week of August. It wasn't too bad. Was hot and humid and actually the July week had more rain than the August week. Usually if it rained it was the normal rain for 5 or 10 minutes then stop. It wasn't too bad. Plus it was welcoming because it wouldn't be as humid after the rain.

Crowds were about the same as normal for summer at Disney. I'm not sure about later in the month though.
