Best time during the year to visit the world

I'm on college break from Dec. 21-Jan.18. and I get out for the year on May 13. Is there any times during the times I have given that tend to be very low crowds? I mentioned that I would love to go to Disney by myself during those times but I don't want it to be really crowded when I go as it is when I go in august with family. somebody help me out!

If you go after the New Years Holiday and before the MLK holiday (jan 14-17), then you will hit light crowds. As Erika said, early May is typically fairly light as well because most elementary through high school aren't out til late May. The weather will be more predictable during May. January temperatures can vary from day-to-day.

We have found that Mardi Gras in LA is the best time for us to go. It varies every year but is usually in Feb-Mar. Weather is awesome. Crowds are pretty low. And everybody else from LA that experienced Mardi Gras the weekend before realize that was enough. We all head to the most magical place on Earth.

I've gone twice in the summer and twice in the winter and let me tell you...around the holidays is great! We went Dec.10-15. We saw everything, nothing was crowded...hardly any lines at all. We rode Splash Mountain 5 times without even getting off the ride. Oh, and the decorations are amazing too.

We've gone in early December. Lines were to a minimum and all the decorations are up. It's really a beautiful time to be there. I also went during Spring Break. The queue lines weren't full and we got to do much of the stuff we wanted to, but we had been spoiled by low Dec. crowds. Since I am in college, I too have much of January off. I've been reading EVERYWHERE that after New Years and before Presidents Day is one of the lowest times as far as crowds go. As it was mentioned, weather is the only thing you gotta watch for I guess. Being from Minnesota though, I'll be out there wearing shorts and a t-shirt....even if it's only 60 degrees....cause it's probably -5 back home!! If you go in January, make sure you say hi if you see me! :animwink:

I've always been a big fan of going the first weekend in December. In past experiences, the weather has been great (no extreme heat, no rain), crowds and lines are minimal (max. wait time 15 minutes), and you get to experience all the holiday decorations, without the price of going during the actual holidays.

I used to work at the Studios and it was never really that busy during May. My top times to stay away would be April (absolutely insane) Christmas Week (see April) and Super Soap Weekend (and you thought the star wars fans were bad oh boy) That and the major holiday weekends. Go during any other time and you should only have light to medium wait times. One note though the Studios is surprisingly slow on Easter.

I'd go the last part of your vacation. Make sure it's after the Christmas rush. I think you will have lots smaller crowds in early to mid-January than you will anytime in May. (Of course I haven't been at either of those times, I'm just speculating) :D

Any time you can

Well, my main criteria, is anytime I can, have the money and vacation time. We usually do October or April/May. Last year on a whim, we went in July...thought it would be terribly crowded and were pleasantly surprised.

But back to your dates ('cause it's not all about me... ), by far the quietest time and lowest room rates would be in January. In the spring, rates go down after 4-16, so May to early June should be fine...after spring break and Easter, but before most schools let out. It is also the second lowest rate period. Crowds will be moderate and spotty (one area may get a bit busy, but others will remain empty)

While I like smaller crowds, I've been in early Dec. when it looks as if the parks aren't really open, never lines and easy walk in dining, but you know, I miss a little bit of traffic. I feel I've missed something as I go through themed queue areas without enough time to look around...those walkways seem much longer if you are walking the whole time without periodic stops. You also have your most limited presentations of parades and fireworks during this time.

Not positive of exact times for '05, but Flower and Garden is held at Epcot starting in April, through May and usually one week in June...in case you might be interested in that.

I'd have to say the best time for YOU to go would be anytime between Jan 1st to Dec 1st. (we go the time between Dec 1st to Dec 14th and I don't want to let everyone know it's the best time) OOOPS.

I love it the first week of Dec ......holiday decorations..... leaving cold weather behind ...light crowds.....etc
