Best strategy for riding flights of passage

Of course I could not get FOP, was hoping some magic would happen but we’re 2 weeks away & no such luck. So...
We are going to AK on an am extra magic hour. What is our best strategy to ride it as a walk on ?

Was in the same situation last week... we arrived 7:30 AM, people were already entering the park. We got to FoP at 7:40 and it was a 30 minute wait. Checked on it later in the day and it was 60 min.

Getting to the park an hour before opening and then doing rope drop toward FOP would be your best bet. It can be about an hour wait using this method, but your best bet for anything but the last hour of daily operation. The line looks absolutely awful during this time and can reach the bridge underpass towards Africa, but once they open the FOP queue, it moves quickly up to the point the first round of fastpass+ guests arrive, then it begins to slow.
You may need to get there even earlier than an hour before the place opens. We tried to do it on the last trip by going when the park opened on an extra magic morning... well most of the park was empty but that is only because everybody and his dog had headed directly to flight of passage. Getting there at the opening got us to the end of 120 minute line. When we asked a CM about how early we would need to get there to get close a good spot in line we were told that people were starting to show up 2 hours before the opening of the park just to get in line so if you were really trying to get on without a long wait you would need to get there super early... Well if you have to get there 2 hours early to avoid a 2 hour line inside the park I'm not sure what the point is... it is going to be a very long wait probably 2 hours. Our solution is skip the ride until the newness wears off and you don't have the insane crowds. Frankly I can't really justify any ride at Disney as being worth a 60 minute wait, let alone a 2 hour wait.

I'm sure others have said...don't bother rope dropping. That's what everyone else is doing. Unless you want to fight to get there first and arrive an hour or more before open anyway (so you're waiting to enter the park instead of waiting in line), just get in line right before close.

Overall, you'll have a shorter wait.

Or get a Fast Pass. You can get one the day before if you're persistent in checking the app enough.

See this I’d be totally ok with. Hoping that I have the same luck.

With 5 people. I doubt it.

Do it on your first day then. Riding last day is a bad strategy anyway because FOP has technical glitches all the time. You might not even get to ride.
Unfortunately we’re doing mickeys not so scary party our first day. Maybe we can try park hopping over on our second day. That’s really our only other chance. We’re only there 5 days & 2 are travel days so we don’t have much room to play with.

Have you tried? I've gotten 4. You have to look every 30 minutes or so, but it works. Sometimes even checking 4-5 times in a row is effective. If you don't want to try, just go with your original plan and hope for the best.

Based on my very recent trip experience, it would seem if you arrive around 730-745 for 8 EMH and get in line right away you'll wait about 30-45 minutes to get on. But at least the line keeps moving since you don't have to contend with FP+er's during that time. Not ideal, but it is definitely the best bet if you can't stay until park close.

As said by many, best chance for lesser wait is at end of evening, not first thing morning. If you go first thing you'd have to get there early and wait in line about an hour before you get let into the park, then snake through the line. 5-10 minutes before closing, we have done this several times and wait is 30-45 min.

Annnnd this is why i have been there twice since FOP opened and still have not ridden it. I figure i'll wait till SW:GE opens and then when everyone and their mother is over there, I'll be able to run freely through Animal Kingdom and go on anything I want ;)

Based on reviews, I'd wait 60 minutes to ride it the first time.

But not the second or subsequent rides.

Fortunately, if all goes well, I won't have to.

Yes I have tried, tried, & tried again lol. Amazing how 1 extra person makes so much difference. We’ve been before & getting fastpasses or dinin reservations for 4 is no problem but with 5 everything has been a hassle.
