Best Romantic Moderate

I'm looking for opinions on what would be the best romantic (but still very disney) moderate for a honeymoon. Unfortunately we can't swing a deluxe as we're spending money on the rest of the trip. I'm leaning towards Coronado Springs or Caribbean Beach because she didn't care for POFQ when we looked around last time (said it wasn't disney enough) and I vaguely remember staying at Riverside back when it was Dixie Landings and there being a whole lot of walking to get anywhere. Any and all pros or cons, even minor ones, would be appreciated.

my husband and i stayed at caribbean beach last september for our honeymoon and loved it. very clean, very cozy rooms, make sure you request king room and they will most likely give it to you. yeah it is a bit spread out but it gives you the feeling of an island which is also nice. bus service was awesome too! enjoy! and make sure you get your pins and hats!

I'll always be a fan of POR and think it's the best of the moderate-class resorts. But another idea is to look at a few of the deluxe resorts-- not all of them are priced on the same plane anymore. I'm a huge fan of the Wilderness Lodge and think it's beautiful and very romantic, and it's not nearly as expensive as some of the other deluxe properties like the Grand Floridian, the Y&B Clubs or Polynesian. Check out the pricing and I think you may be pleasantly surprised!

This is a little off topic but do DisneyStore cast members get park discounts now that Disney owns them again?? I remember that they get some discount on merchandise and maybe food but I don't remember anything about rooms.

Also I made a reservation at POR to hold my spot while I look for a better deal or etc.

As an update, I found on mousesavers that the AAA discount is 10% during that time. This saves us about $95. Now joining is only $48, so it was worth it to join and then use the discount. DFiance wanted a membership anyways so now I get Disney to flip the bill and a little savings.

Sorry for resurrecting this old thread everyone. Just utilizing the search function like a good forum member. :D

I was wondering if a year and a half later, everyone still agrees that Coronado Springs and Port Orleans Riverside still stand as the most romantic moderates. Also, if you pick POR, which section?

Thanks!

To answer the question of if I still believe that the CSR and POFQ are the most romantic moderates the answer is still Yes!
Also I would have to go with a room facing the river and far away from the main pool and lobby just for the peace and quiet at POFQ.

If I were to pick POR, I would go with Alligator Bayou. It's much more shaded and has a better feel to it than the Manor style. Those rooms just feel like a giant hotel. Alligator Bayou has a lot of nice, shaded, paths to walk, and the lighting is perfect.

Coronado Springs is beautiful, but it was really ruined for me by all the corporate types walking around.

I've stayed at all the moderates and one of those stays did happen to be my honeymoon.
It was November 05 at POFQ, we had a wonderful time and found the size of the resort (smaller than the others) rather nice and cosy. The food court was good and the rooms were very nice.

We are now divorced but it was still a great trip!!

Port Orleans Riverside is nice, particularly the Parterre Place building with the rose gardens and fountain in front. It is in the Magnolia Bend (mansions) section. To get to it you walk over a small scenic river on a wooden foot bridge.

My wife and I just got back from POFQ. I cannot recommend this place enough for couples. We preferred the quality of the theming, flora, and peaceful setting over CSR. Just be SURE you get a king-sized bed!!! Read my review that I just posted.

That sounds amazing! When I looked at pictures, I couldn't believe it was a WDW resort. :D

I would never have guessed Corodano - Isn't this a conference center.

There is one attached, yes, but it is definitely a nice calm resort when you take a walk around the lake or chill in a hammock. It was such a nice break from the parks. I have been there 4 times and have never had any issues with the conventioneers. POR was nice too as was POFQ but CBR was IMO just like a value resort with lots of kids running around all day and into the night.

We ended up going to POR in the Magnolia Bend section. The outside was absolutely wonderful and although we didn't use the pool area it looked cool. The one complaint I have is that the inside of the room felt under maintained. The tile and such was all cracked up and filled with black (dirt, grout?). Inside I felt like I was in an off property room, but once we closed the door it was great.

Also, we took the boat to DTD and it is a must do at night. It's nice to see the shoreline rooms and go by. It's cool and cozy.

We just returned from a visit to WDW. Stayed in the Alligator Bayou building 26 room 2648. Nice room and good location. No complaints at all. It was more like a secluded condo rather than a huge building with room after room after room. Checkout www.portorleans.org
