I've never been in that park, but I just rode Jurassic World ride on Youtube. Can I say I'm so thankful that Disney doesn't own that IP. With the state of the company these days, I'd say the ride would've ended up like M&MRR and simply be projections throughout. This ride is a fantastic mix of very well done projection, and fantastic animatronics that actually work and are mostly lit up. I really like that it's a boat ride too instead of a car. I did notice at least a couple of the dinosaurs were only heads (no surprise) with no body behind in the video I watched. They need to do better hiding the first T-rex behind the wall at 3:43 of this video because you can see he has no body in the subsequent 5 seconds, but otherwise the ride is fantastic...
Ouch! Yeah, I'd absolutely blast Disney for that. I will say one thing tho. If the fixes are major and more long-term, they might have thought that it's better to eat up some of the crowds and have some stuff missing or not working than to shut it down completely. But of course I'm posing an unacceptable lose/lose situation either way. Like I said... not acceptable. These companies are backing up dump trucks of cash at their banks. Hire the necessary people to keep your parks at a level that is worthy of the gate fees.
I've only ridden the ride once in 2020 and still think about the final scene to this day. The way both the velociraptor and the i-rex walk up to the boats is so impressive. Before the drop, I just remember seeing two dinosaurs fighting above me & I thought "this is the coolest thing I've seen in a while." haha
Honestly, I was impressed by the aquarium scene. The scale is huge and not translated through videos, that said, I don’t think it would come to Florida, pretty sure it was mainly built to block out the parking deck above.
Yeah it looks better in person for sure. I'm sure my disappointment was set a bit from the commercial they made it seem like the boats would move or something when it attacked but it was a pretty passive experience. I wonder how'd they would switch it in Florida or just fix up what is already there.
I guess we got lucky as it all seemed to be running and it was a vast improvement over the Florida one. Unfortunately Mummy was down when we went to ride it, and I was curious how it would look as it just had been taken out of a long refurbishment. When I tried riding later, the wait times were through the roof.
We were planning on marathoning JW in the later part of the day when the crowds died down (since it was 50 degrees), but since the final scene was all but entirely dead, we marathoned Mummy instead, and it's a good ride, no doubt, but I wouldn't say Orlando's was definitively better or worse, they're both just different. The exterior of Orlando's boosts it, but the stupid coffee ending docks it down a few pegs (to the dismay of die-hards).
I'm so glad I went on this when it first opened and got see it in all its glory, before Saturday Night Fever took over.
Hey Bubba. Just curious... why minus the aquarium scene? It's pretty impressive. To be able to make a projection look that real in fairly well lit tunnel is impressive. The flow of the scene works well. There's one thing they could've done to "plus" it... have water spray out at the boat when the "glass is cracked". That would've been way over the top.
@Pepper's Ghost when I rode it, water did spray the boat when the glass cracked!
It was very impressive!! I always remember Rhode saying in vacation planning videos, "you've never seen something so big, move so fast!" And the addition of the fur moving added more illusion of speed to something that was already fast.
If it was a new ride, I'd imagine the first scene would be a lot like the original scene with the aquarium scene following it. I'd probably have it enclosed so a lot more effects can go off too. Maybe even make the room seem like it's flooding before being released. The scene is still fun, I just think it feels a little shoved in & unnecessary for Florida. I've only ridden once though, maybe I'll enjoy it more a second round.
