What do you think is the best Deluxe Resort (excluding the non-Disney-operated Swan & Dolphin Resort) in Walt Disney World and why?
---------------------------------------------------------
Personally, I've been to all but two, Yacht & Beach Club and the new Animal Kingdom Lodge, so I am pretty confident that my judgments are essentially non-biased.
My favorite is Disney's BoardWalk Inn & Villas. Here's why:
1.) Great Location-a five minute walk from Epcot, and about a 15-20 minute walk to Disney-MGM Studios. Also, it's near Animal Kingdom, Fantasia Gardens, and Blizzard Beach. And to get to the MK, bus transportation is regular, or if you are willing to hike it, the monorail station in Epcot takes you to the TTC and then from TTC to MK.
2.) Great shops, night-life, and restaurants. During the day, the surreys are great. Fireworks cruises are among the best throughout the World. At night, the street vendors and roving entertainers are classic Disney.
3.) The layout of the hotel makes it a good bet of getting a decent view from most rooms.
4.) Crescent Lake. A nice Lake for the Water Mice (rented at Yacht & Beach), you can go all the way to MGM and back. Lots of fun avoiding the Friendships...
5.) The overall feel of the resort. Disney outdid itself on this one. The lobby is superb, the pool and 200-ft. "Keister Coaster" is a blast, service is usually prompt, and the rooms are spacious.
There's so much more I'd like to say about this resort, but I'll stop there.
