Best queue at an attraction

i think i already wrote down my favs in another thread, so i am going to do my least favs including uo and ioa (which has the best lines imo).

MK: definately the lines in fantasy land. the only good thing about them is that you can see how far away you are from the actuall ride. other than that...boring, outside, and cramped.
EPCOT: hmmm i guess...spaceship earth? cause there's like not really a line at all..
MGM: i personally dont like the line for the who wants to be a millionaire show...whenever you get there before they open the doors you just wait in a boring line with nothing to look at at all.
AK: the safari.....soooo boring. nothing to look at.
UO: back to the future. when it's hot i hate it so much.
IOA: I like most of them...i would say the carosuessel but there is never a line so they dont need a great line..i guess one fish two fish although it isnt that boring cause you get to watch the ride.

I was so po'd by the time we got to dueling dragons i didn't enjoy the ride. I mean 10 minutes and there was NO line. I was overall very disappointed with IOA the one time I went. Spider Man was awesome and Jurassic Park was cool but other than that it was a once every 5-10 year place - not an every year like WDW.

Thats you opinion, but I disagree, the lines are pretty cool there, just like rest of the park, it's just sad Disney hasn't got a park of all good rides like that

That's odd. I love the ""space" music" they play in the queue there. It's just a simple loop of synth tones but it's very calming and mysterious. I used to loop that and the Alien Encounter queue music and play them when I was writing papers.

Hook, I agree with you, Kongfrontation was a great queue. I also liked Terminator 3D, which had a really rockin' preshow, but I thought more could have been done with the "Cyberdyne Open house" theme.

For those who don't understand why the Haunted Mansion queue works so well, understand that it's so effective because of the way the mansion itself looks. They force you to take a long, hard look at the exterior of the attraction, and whether it's day or night your imagination does all the work for you.

We're talking about queues here....not rides...and how they add to the experience. Seems some people are trying to re-visit an old argument here. I don't think that discussion is going to go anywhere.

Somehow as you grow and mature, you tend to look at things like a queue as part of the whole experience. Not just stuff to look at while waiting for yet another roller-coaster.

That being said, the best queue I've ever been in is Indiana Jones in DL. This thing has so much stuff to look at and DO it's crazy. It's very interactive, and there are actually several puzzles to solve while waiting.

A good line should make it seem like you're not really in line.....IJ does it nicely. :)

I have always told everybody the best thing about disney is the way they prepare you for a ride. I have always paid attention to the preshows and walk throughs, with that being said, I will list some attractions that i love the preshow to. (please reply, I would love to hear what you think)

Tower of terror is absolutely tremendous, my favorite part being in the hotel lobby, they made that look sooooooo real! Everything about this preshow is great.

In RnRC Aerosmith is great, but the best part is when you go in the alle way, being from Boston I can tell you that it looks exactly like that.

Space mountain is also great because once you are inside that building it puts you in the mood right away. I love watching the TV's because it makes you feel lke you are in the future watching the "Space news"

Pirates of The Carribean is awesome. It has a very goonies feel to it which is great.

I could go On and On about so many other attractions like Big thunder Mountain, test track, alien ancounter, and splash mountain. But my alltime fav. is...................

Star Wars!!! Its so great, with the anomitronics outside and once you go in with C-3P0 and R2D2 working on the ship, its awesome, when i was little they had ewoks stand outside and great people, it was the best experience

:D Yah-- for Star tours!! Love C3PO/R2D2 and the droid just before you get to the entrance, AT 2?? Have you listened to what he says LOL? And a great line--especially when it is hot!

Hum--- Do not care for the pre show at the backlot tour ( at least they finally changed it) but do enjoy looking at all the "props" on the way to the ride.

Just like every one else TOT is the best!!! especially at night when the fog (dry ice) is working--- And of course the Haunted Mansion- Did they add a few new tombstones?? seemed like it last time we were waiting-- (If you are including the stretching room and etc.)

TT is pretty interesting on the way in!! Keeps the little ones busy!! Do not care for the car advertising on the way out though. :(

Do not want to start on the ones I do not like----- Tooooo many!! Is there a queue for DUMBO!!!!! HA HA! :goodnevil

I don't think it's dry ice. I think that could/would get very expensive very quickly. Probably just mist jets that make a mist so fine it just sort of floats and looks like fog. :)

I gotta disagree on the whole ToT thing. It's very detailed & realistic, but also kind of boring (except inside the library). It's a very well-put-together queue, but for my taste it just isn't fun enough. *preparing for the flames* :lookaroun

IMHO, Muppetvision 3D and Star Tours have the best queues. I spent an hour or more on my first visit looking at the entire MV3D queue even though there was no line at all. I read all the posters down the outdoor part of the queue, took pictures of the waterfountain pipes and the pipes behind the fence, read all the doors down the indoor hall, read all the boxes and looked at all the props in the preshow room, and read all the signs on the outside of the building. (Fortunately this queue is rarely in use when I'm there, and was completely deserted on my first trip.) Everything around there is just incredibly muppety, even the glasses-return area and the Stage One Company Store.

Star Tours is the only queue at Disney that I like better than the ride itself. I love the first room w/C3PO & R2, and the second room with the other droids is pretty cool, too. I really love the little safety preshow before you board, but I just don't like the characters on the ride itself as much.

And since this has been mentioned, there are several Universal/IoA queues I like better than the rides: Dr. Doom (boy, does that ride suck!), MIB, and Back to the Future. The Spiderman queue would qualify here, too, if the ride weren't so awesome.

I have to say one more thing...I appreciate the fantasyland-type chain-and-bar queues, too. Since I usually visit during the lowest attendence periods, I get very annoyed at having to hike the whole Kali or Dueling Dragons or Splash queue, esp. when I want to ride multiple times. The c&b's may not be very interesting, but they're a lot easier when you want to hop right back on. The very best queues are the RnRC or MV3D type that has a c&b in case it's needed but has a short trail to the actual attraction for the off-season.

I can only speak for myself of course, so here's what I think...

Don't worry about me going off on you :) While I don't agree with a lot of your opinions, that is fine because to me the reason for this board is to discuss our differences in opinion. It would really be pretty dull if we all agreed on everything, after all...

Everything you said was well thought out and eloquently stated. I really hope you stay around and continue to post!

Thanks! That was really nice of you to say. I spend a lot of time reading these boards, but I don't post often. I won't be back in the World until May, so it makes me feel a little less "homesick" to read about it. :)

Thanks again for making me feel welcome here!

You're Welcome! :)

I haven't been home since 12/00 - I am terribly homesick myself....:(

I'd have to say Muppet Vison 4d, not only for the hysterical pre-show, but the que line outside: "The experiment to get from here to there."

I've always thought that!

Like most of the others I've read here, my fav ques would have to be ones like TOT, Space Mountain, etc...

The one's I cant stand, however, are the fantasyland ones (esp when there's a long line. Hearing the same music and spiels over and over and over again sort of gets to you.
