If you had to recommend a place to eat for dinner (for exampe) at the on-site hotels or CityWalk, which would be your top picks? Last time I satyed at UNI I didn't try many of them, but since I'm going for several nights I thought this time I would.

Pastamore is my favorite, with Margaritaville being a close second. I haven't had bad food anywhere, but those are my two favorites. :)

Eta: Pastamore has closed. :(

Heading for the great escape.
Margaritaville is a must do for us every trip. Also enjoy Gumps as they do a good Margarita. For a grown ups meal we love the Palm

All 4 of the High End dining options (Emeril's Orlando, Emeril's Tchoup Chop, Palm Steakhouse, and BiCE) at UOR are fantastic. As for the casual table service restaurants, I like Hard Rock Cafe, Margaritaville, and Pat O'Brian's in CityWalk and Mythos and Fennigan's in the parks. And for counter service Red Oven Pizza Bakery, The Three Broomsticks, and Springfield. Also Cafe LaBamba (when it's open) and Thunder Falls Terrace.

Just booked a table for Mythos, and I didn't have to do it 6 months out, or guarantee a credit card!

Will for sure try the food in Springfield and return to Three Broomsticks. Going to also look into Margaritaville, Emeril's (Elzar's? ;)) and/or Pastamore during the first day or last after seeing The Lego Movie.

Just 15 days left until my trip! :D

Edit: When is the new Mexican place supposed to open?

I think someone at UO said it would be opened by Jan 30. @Disneyhead'71 posted a photo tour of the interior over there.

I thought I saw somewhere (disneyfoodblog?) that the Mexican place would open by the end of this week. But I think end of the month is a safe bet.

Also, I think Pastamore has already closed and they are starting on the new place (Vivo?).

It is with sorrowful and heavy heart that I must agree here. :(

Pastamore has, sadly, already closed. (Dum-da-dummm, dum-da-dummm.) :(

I pray every night that Disney adds this to Disney Springs. It was so good. Oh, Disney, for once - just once! - seize on Uni's mistake and open me a Pastamore. PleasePleasePlease.

God, I loved that place.

Final food question, what characters are at the breakfast in the park? Is there a fixed set or do they rotate? Thinking about it to avoid waiting in lines and because, well, I have to eat breakfast anyway.

I know there is some sort of character breakfast at Jake's, which is in the Royal Pacific hotel. I am not sure, but that might only be on the weekends. I think there is one character breakfast in one of the parks, but I cannot recall exactly where or which characters. Sorry, I know that it not as helpful as you would like.
