Of these 4 resorts, which would you say has the best CS food? And why? What food items would you recommend?

Wilderness Lodge
Polynesian
Contemporary
Grand Floridian

(Just to help you out on what we enjoy: we try to *avoid* burgers, hot dogs, fried chicken fingers and french fries as much as possible.)

More info., if it helps: We are planning to see the holiday decorations at these resorts on our arrival day when we go in December. We have Hoop Dee Doo that night at 9:30, and will need a quick meal mid-afternoon, so we're looking for a CS meal rather than TS.

The only one I have not eaten at is Wilderness Lodge with this in mind my fav are both poly and grand floridian. they have different things to offer. the grand floridian's gasparilla grille had a southwestern chicken sandwich that was spicy but oh so yummy, also had jerk chicken salad wrap. the kids menu was limited, but i believe there are other places to eat there. and the poly had a aloha pork sandwhich and stir fried noodles that were great. (poly also has the famous dole whip that everyone loves) poly kid meal menu has a turkey sandwhich and grilled cheese besides the chicken and hamburger. hope this helps.

We stayed at the Coronado Springs this past August and I was not crazy about the food. Food court was great breakfast, lunch and dinner so-so. The Maya Grill was below average-if we didn't have free dining plan and had to pay we would have been very angry-not good.

For counter service I really enjoy eating at Roaring Forks at the Wilderness Lodge. The food is different then the same old burger and fries and the dinning area is little and quaint. I have noticed that most families, patrons, et. al. like to get there food and either head outside or to their rooms to enjoy their meals which aids in the dinning hall being very quiet.
They offer a variety of soups and really great salads, I myself really like the Arugula, Beet, and blue chesse crumble salad it was amazing :slurp:
Also if the menu isnt exactly what you are looking for then may I suggest heading down to the Trout Pass Pool Bar where you can dine next to "Ole Faithful". They have burgers, sandwiches, fries etc etc and its only a short walk from Roaring Forks.

Then stay out of Roarin' Forks in the WL as their daily specials revolve around those items, although my family enjoys this place. Captain Cook's was very good as well and we haven't been back to the Contemporary since things changed over. Have never been to the GF so I can't help you there.

The Contemporary's food court has lots of choices. They have a really good grilled mahi sandwich that's topped with an citrus slaw, a good turkey club and some interesting flatbread pizzas. They also offer a sesame green bean salad as an alternative to fries or chips. It's kind of Asian inspired - a nice change from fries. The only drawback to the Contemporary is the ordering kiosks; they can be a little tempremental. Not sure about kids menu - I don't have kids.

Of the ones you mentioned, I have only been to Roaring Forks at WL. It is my least favorite CS of all the WDW resorts I have ever been to.

GF and WL are fairly average, but have some different sandwiches. Contemporary has a nice variety of sandwiches, burgers are angus beef. Poly fairly routine but Tonga Toast in the AM, pulled pork and it has Dole Whips! I agree with considering Roaring Forks at WL

The Contempo Cafe has a really yummy flatbread pizza. It was quite tasty and I wish they offered that in the parks instead of the inedible personal pizzas. Love got a burger and it was far superior to in-park fare as well, on a multi-grain roll and quite delicious he said. I found their counter service to be quite a step above the park offerings.

I'm leaning toward Contempo cafe. I checked out the menus for all 4 of these resorts over on allears, and it looked like theirs had more variety than any of the other three. I was intrigued by the sandwiches listed on the Roarin forks menu, but the mixed reviews people have given here may make me reconsider. That's why I love the forums -- menus can be deceiving!

Thanks for the help, all.
