Best Buffet?

Here's another vote for Boma.

If you want "regular" food that you can get elsewhere, then don't come here. But if you want to try amazing food that isn't common throughout most of the US, then this is the place. I could park myself in front of the soup/stew station alone and devour the coconut seafood soup and the meat stews. And don't get me started on the crispy flatbreads with the various and delicious types of hummus.

In fact, Boma isn't just my favorite "best" buffet, but it is my #1 most favorite place to eat in all of WDW, followed very closely by Jiko.

Ohana is not a buffet...it's all you care to eat family style.

Best buffet? Boma - period.

yeah, that's what I said but most people would consider it along the same lines as a buffet. Multiple choices, as much food as you'd like, that's really all a buffet is right? The only difference is they bring it to you instead of you getting up to get it. That's why I throw it out there (but with the disclaimer of course).

Boma, hands down. The other buffets don't even come close.

Yes, if you're not staying at AKL (or have a car) it's a pain to get there, but it's worth it.

I like 1900 Park Faire for the atmosphere. We were there 2 years ago for my birthday and got extra attention from one of the stepsisters but the food was really good too.

My favorite for just plain food is the buffet at Trail's End at FW.

Crystal Palace is my favorite. Trails Inn a close second for "down home" food. Chef Mickeys for fun.

Hate to be a Debbie Downer but I did not like Boma at all! We are the type that will try anything once - not picky eaters..and between it being a pain to get there and the food - we will not go back.

Our favorite for breakfast is Boma!! :slurp: My husbands favorite is the pastries and the corn beef. We also have eaten here for dinner. Very different, but tasty. The best is breakfast.

I think we're going to have to agree to disagree on this one...

Wow, all these votes for Boma, (which made me glad I booked there for breakfast) I may have to change an ADR for Boma dinner!! We always loved Chef Mickeys and Biergaten, and Crystal Palace is also very good. Boma seems great for standard fare and something different, Cape May for seafood lovers as well as usual buffet choices.

I'd have to say Cape May Cafe for dinner, (I'm surprised it didn't get more mentions), also Chef Mickeys, Boma used to be on top of the list however after our last visit in 2010, I wasn't as impressed as before, maybe different chef?

My fave is Tusker House breakfast at AK for Breakfast. People rave about Boma, but I honestly hated it. Everything tasted like mustard to me, and I hate mustard. Even my hubby and kids disliked it. It was @ 5 years ago, and I'd never go back. Chef Mickey is was too chaotic for me. Crystal Palace is OK. We enjoyed 1900 Park Fare, though.
I would agree Tusker House is great, but for breakfast only.

We have always been big fans of Cape May Cafe and are also surprised it doesn't get more mentions. My wife loves seafood, and our son, usually a picky eater actually tried and liked crab legs for the first time there. We always schedule our ADR's when we're at DHS and look forward to taking the boat over to Yacht/Beach Club for our dinners at Cape May.

I'll have to go with Boma.

It's a nice change of pace considering a lot of them have some similarities. Although we really do enjoy Chef Mickey's I don't know what it is about those mashed potatoes...

Boma for sentimental reasons and it has some of the most unique offerings at WDW. I have not been to any other dinner buffets at WDW. I have been to many of the Family Style which are not counted.

As for breakfast, I think most of the breakfast buffets are identical. It is the atmosphere. I do not think a breakfast could win for a buffet.

Just a comment if you decide to do BOMA breakfast.

Some people say it is a bit out of the way to get there if you don't have a car, but here's what we've done the past several times.

We always book for the last breakfast seating (close to 11am) on an Animal Kingdom emh morning. We arrive at the park before 8am, do Everest several times, Dinosaur and go ride Kilimanjaro Safari. Anything else we do depends on how long those attractions take, but we are at the Animal Kingdom Lodge bus stop at about 10:20am, and catch our bus to go eat. Even if we wait 15 min for a bus, we're still there before our reservation. The restaurant is usually quiet then too.

After the meal, we might hang out at the lodge (if we're not staying there) to look around at the savannahs, flamingo ponds, gift shop (Zawadi Marketplace), etc. Once all that's done, it's back on a bus for the 5 min. ride to AK for (as much as we can): Festival of the Lion King, Flights of Wonder, It's Tough to Be a Bug, Finding Nemo:The Musical, and some trail walking (Pangani Forest, Maharajah Jungle Trek, base of Tree of Life) and shopping.

We've done that, or a slight variation, the past 6 trips and it's made for a great, full day. :)
