Best Beer in the World

Sam Adams Octoberfest here too! Of course, living in Boston I can have that non-stop during the Fall season. So I'll say I enjoy the Spaten Oktoberfest as well.

It's a shame to say, but I've only been to the world twice in the last 5 years and haven't really had a chance to explore much of the craft offerings around the world. Now, I'm a complete beer nerd, so WDW rarely offers anything that's, well, rare, but their selection has gotten better (so I've gathered from posts and podcasts) over the last few years. I'm excited to be able to get a couple Kona offerings, am interested in what Big River Grille has to offer (though with it being a Gordon-Biersch establishment, I'm not holding out too much hope), and love the fact that DFH 60 min is, supposedly, all over the place.

As an aside since it's a beer thread, if anyone is looking to experience some good Florida beer, do yourself a favor and seek out ANYTHING by Cigar City Brewing. It's pretty much available at any of the beer shops around Orlando, but it's worth the effort, trust me. If you're a fan of IPAs or any dark ale (Porter/Brown/Stout) they do them extremely well.

Cheers,
Indy

The Unibroue beers in Le Cellier are the best on site. Unfortunately, Disney doesn't have too big of a micro brew presence. You may be able to find some Sierra Nevada and maybe even Brooklyn from what I've heard in the past.

I have never eaten at Le Cellier, and quite honestly with the bump to Signature, and the corresponding price increases, I probably never will. Is there a lounge/bar area inside that someone without reservations can access?

They have some Orlando Brewing Company (correct name?) beers at The Wave and Portobellos which are good.

I have to agree. While there are a few random decent picks around the world, there really isn't much in terms of a good variety of craft offerings. My boyfriend is a big craft beer guy, homerbrewer, and certified beer judge, so I'm excited to see what he thinks about the stuff at Big River. We knew it was a Gordon Biersch place, so like you we are skeptical.

I like that the Poly carries a few Kona brews. It's probably something that we wouldn't be able to get on the east coast (especially prohibition-like pennsylvania with our liquor laws).

Has anyone tried the Orlando Brewing beers at Portabello? I'm curious!

The Carlsburg at Norway is good stuff. Also tried both brews in Germany on my most recent visit. Both were really good! Wish I could remember the names....:veryconfu The best I had was at Carribean Beach Resort, Hurricane Reef. It's actually brewed just down the road in Melbourne, FL. GREAT BREW! My all time favorite on ANY vacation are the ice cold Natties I pull out of the cooler or fridge...something about the price that makes it taste even better!

Carlsburg from Norway is a steady favorite.

Is the Sams Red Brick available now? Will be there in a few weeks and want to try it.

Last I heard it is available. That was about 10 days ago. It seems like in the past it usually stays for the duration of summer. So you should be good. You are in for a treat.

Having just returned from a "Drink around the world" I would say that there is still something so satisfying about a well-poured Guinness. It is equal parts refreshing and full-bodied.

Been to Big River several times. Won't go back due to the last several times the service was awful and rude.

As for Red Brick, where is that found at Epcot?

I hope there is a decent selection for the F & W fest.

Any of the beers made by Unibroue that are served at Le Cellier.

The last time we ate there, it was La Fin Du Monde (one of my personal all time favorites anywhere, anytime), Maudite, and Blanche De Chambly. For my money, Unibroue makes some of the most complex and enjoyable beers in the world.

Since we generally can't afford to get a meal at Le Cellier on every visit, my go-to is Guiness and DWs is Bass or whatever they are serving at the Bier Garden. It's discussions like these that make this couple very happy. (DW is manager of a 40+ taps beer bar and I am one of their best patrons - current count is 650 different beers tasted)

The Unibroue beers are really worth it, and receive my vote for the "best". I enjoy the La Fin Du Monde while my brother loves the Maudite. We occasionally buy them up here in Chicago, and this past Christmas I purchased the logo glasses for our Unibroue tasting pleasure.

I agree with the Unibroue choice, but as a big Samual Adams fan I must admit to being guilty of never having this Brick Red brew! I must return (without chaperoning high school students) ASAP...

Found at the American Pavilion Beer cart.

Don't beat yourself up over it. It's only available in Boston and Epcot.
