Best and Worst Ride Stoppage

Best stoppage was SSE right in front of the Roman chariot. Nice to listen to them chatting. I always lean out to try to hear the characters anyway....

during the descent on SSE - nothing to look at and my neck and back ached after being stuck there for about 25 minutes. The seats are so uncomfortable to rest my head on but then my neck would hurt from trying to hold my head forward...it was awful.

I would have traded you. That sounds much more enjoyable than mine.

No good stoppages come to mind. My "bad" one wasn't that bad, but scarey at first. We stopped on the Everest lift hill, which doesn't bother me, but when forward motion stopped we dropped back just a little. I'm sure it was only a few inches and it was just the system switching into "lock mode" or whatever it's called. But for a second you think, "oh crap! We're going backwards!" ( Before you're suppose to :) )

We got stuck on Pirates this past November, right in front of the drunk pirate with the cats. We heard, " Here Kitty, kitty, kitty..." for about 15 minutes until they finally evacuated us. There were only about three boats that were stuck, it was first thing in the morning. It was great because we got to exit out of the back entrance and walk behind the building. We walked behind pirates and the jungle cruise. We walked very slowly and took it all in.
I rode Pirates 2 times in august when i was there, I got stuck at that exact part the first time on the ride.... The Second time was around the corner from the end, and had to hear a pirates life for me from Jack Sparrow for like 15 minutes.....

HM, on the decent downwards into the graveyard after the attic.

what an awkward place to be stuck in.

I have been stopped in the exact same place. It was very awkward. I kind of enjoyed it, but I wish the view had been better. I've also been repeatedly stuck on Snow White's Scary Adventures. I seem to get stuck on it every time I go to WDW. LAST time I got stuck it was feet from the exit, the doors were open and we could see people standing in the queue outside the loading area. Sadly we weren't allow to leave for the next 20 minutes.

I've also been stuck on Jurassic Park before as well. This gave me huge amounts of anxiety because I get so worked up over the drop. So I refuse to ride it anymore. :( But none of my friends heckle me about it when we go together :)

Got stuck in this exact same spot in Dec. '09. Cast members were wading around in the water trying to get things moving, finally after about 20 minutes we were evacuated. That was a really long walk! Got a fastpass good for anything for our trouble. Only time I've ever been stuck on the ride itself while stopped, been standing in line many times waiting for a ride that had stopped.

I have never had a "best" ride stoppage. I think that my worst ones are always on the haunted mansion. A lengthy stop can really diminish the continuity and whimsy of the ride.

Worst: Before the Space Mt. refurb, we were stuck on the ride for the second time that weekend. It was during a halloween party night where they were only running one side, so I was already a bit miffed at that. By the time they got us off, I missed the majority of the fireworks show I had never seen before. We were leaving the next morning. I was really, really, PO'ed. I wrote a note to Guest Realtions on that one.

Good and bad: Stuck on Pirates for 30-40 in the burning room last spring. They eventually did kill the song. Which was a relief, as it gets old after awhile. But it is weird without it too. When they turned up the lights, you get a good look at the mechanisms in the water, etc. Finally, they came out in waders and pushed they the boat backwards to a previous scene and evaced us out the back door through backstage. Once again, this was our last night there. Tangent: Then on the way to a hub, a saw a boy about 11 years old being carried by his father (I presume) and crying. I thought, he seems a little old for that, he must have been really effected by the evac. Then they stopped amidst the umbrella benches, and I noticed the entire family was crying and huddled togehter. I thought, wow, this is something so much bigger than that. They must have just gotten some really, really, bad news or something. Say a prayer and keep moving, but we don't go about 20 yards until we get to the hub. At the hub, I hear some one scream "Call 911!", and look over to my left, and another guest is down and looks unresponsive, small group around them. Guest are looking for CM's. I remember seeing someone run towards the area between Caseys and Crystal Palace. As i am not medically trained, I do all I can and pray once again. It was a ....... odd night to say the least. When I got home, I saw a thread on here titled something like "A bad Night at the Magic Kingdom" discussing ride issues that night. Yeah, it was a rough one to say the least.

Good: I have been evaced off of Pooh and Maelstrom in the same trip this fall. They walked us backwards through the show scenes. Pretty cool. We were 2 boats from the drop in Norway. We did not get to Huffalumps in Pooh before the stop.

I cannot recall every getting stopped in a ride...doesn't mean it didn't happen...I just have a terrible memory. If I did get stuck, I would love for it to be at the top of Splash Mountain at night while Wishes was going on (how's that for perfect timing?). Not only would you get an awesome view of the show, but the anticipation of falling would be cool. You just wouldn't know when it was going to happen. I'm not sure it's possible because I don't know if you are still on the track when you reach the top, but in my imagination, it's possible and I would love it

It's happened to us all. You're on TTA or SSE and the ride stops momentarily. A few minutes later, you're on your way.

Stoppages, short or long, are not just confined to TTA or SSE, obviously. So what's the best place (if there is such a thing) and worse place you've been stopped?

For me, the best was on TTA one evening, where I was able to get a good view of the castle and the fireworks going off whilst the ride was not in motion. Not too bad.

The worst was POTC, which stopped in the first scene, just after the mist screen. I like POTC, but the same song on loop was getting frustrating. Plus it took a bit longer to get going. I suppose it could have been worse, in that I could have been stopped in the mist screen itself getting dripped on, or stopped on IASW, and having to hear the song over and over again!
I got stuck on Its a Small World for 15 mins right beside the flamingo and bongo boy.
EDIT: I also got stuck on SSE for about 10 mins when you are going backwards at the end.

TTA on the part where you pass through Space Mountain. We just got fully inside and it stopped. It is pitch dark in there. I guess I never noticed how dark while the ride was in motion since it doesn't last very long. After a few minutes the lights came on and the ride started up again in about 5 mins.

We stopped three times at the same spot on the same ride. We stopped, then the lights came on. Then it started again. We went forward a couple of metres, then it stopped again. Waited for a couple of minutes, then it started, then stopped two metres further still. Once it got going again, it stayed going.

Stuck on SM before the renovation right after we were seated. They turned on all the lights and we could hear the people inside cheering when they were freed. We sat for a pretty long time right in the loading area. Wishing they would have just let us off but they didn't/couldn't. We were "evaced" from Philharmagic and were given Fast Passes to use anywhere in MK. Otherwise I chalk some stops and delays into loading/unloading wheel chairs.

TT was the worst, but most memorable for us. My boys were 4 and on it for the 1st time. We stopped hanging sideways on the "fast" part. I had to hold my little guy in. One was panicking a bit. My 1 guy rode it again and again w/ Daddy because we were stuck about 15 minutes ( so very nice). My other guy cried, and the CMs were so kind, they took him to the control room to show him how it worked, so cool! What a memory! When he calmed down, they put us on, and we rode it twice through!:D I'll miss the old TT, since there were many times my husband would ride it w/ the boys and the CMs saw it ( waiting in line several times). They always let them ride it twice w/o getting back in line! The CMs loved it when my guys would tell them it's their favorite ride in all of WDW.:D

On our last trip in October we were stopped on POTC. Right were the guy with the pigs. OMG it took a good 10-15 minutes to start up again. I thought we were going to have to get out and walk off the ride.

I'm a bit of a wdwmagic lurker, but I saw this thread and wanted to share. I haven't been to WDW in about 5 years, but I remember getting stuck on a few rides. I know I got stuck while on Dinosaur once a little after the initial "time travel". After a little while, we were informed by a cast member walking to our vehicle that the ride was having technical issues and is being evacuated. Was pretty cool to see the inner workings of the audio animatronic dinosaurs on the way out. The backs of dinos were uncovered, as far as I remember anyway. Also remember having some sort of oil or tar (?) all over the bottom of my shoes after walking out. Kind of weird.
