Before I going to WDW I always...

Anyone else have any rituals or habits to make your wait to go to WDW a little more fun (and fast!)???

Here's my little bit of making the wait a bit more fun

1.) Visit the Disney Store and stand over in the corner and listen to the music while admiring the snowglobes... pretending to be in the Emporium.

2.) Take an occasional visit to Rainforest Cafe (its about 45 minutes from here) and I make sure I get a seat in the back so I can't see outside the restaurant. Then I can think I am in AK or DTD.

3.) Put on my Wishes or Fantasmic! music sit back close my eyes and pretend I am there.

4.) Do the always fun... watch the planning DVD time and time again religiously lol.

5.) Watch past home movies of WDW trips. Remember memories and magic while looking at photos.

6.) Work on my WDW scrapbooks.

7.) Make 973249 Itineraries before I go. Each one becoming more elaborate. Though I NEVER make a schedule. Just what I want to do, confirmation numbers, postcard & gift lists, etc.

8.) This one is extremely strange - you will all think I am odd.... but I dont know if anyone has noticed the smell of mascara (im a scent person I remember many things by that - sometimes its good sometimes its bad) anyways, the smell of mascara is extremely close to the smell of the oh so wonderful WDW Water lol. But the smell can just bring back so many memories.... haha.

Right now I am fortunate enough to be moved into a new house with my parents and I being the only child in the house (child at the age of 21 possibly moving to FL seasonally for WDW castmember hoping I get the job finding out in July!!!) am upstairs where there are 4 BR and Bathroom.. All by myself. So my bedroom, my living room and my art room are all up there. My living room is going to consist of all my Disney Collectibles and snowglobes memorabilia and movie posters and posters my travel agent gave me of WDW will be in frames on the walls, very simple but cute. So working on that will get me by lol. And my new bedroom smells like the all star rooms. Dont know how I got it to do that but i love it.

Anyways enough about me.... does anyone else have these crazy little habits they have before going to WDW?

I do watch the planning videos, too, though I just get so mad cuz they don't show enough of what I want to see, haha.

I surf these boards and a couple of others to make sure I soak up every last secret and tip that I can possibly remember.

And then I watch two of my home videos - 1989, the 1st year I went, and 2004, when I went w/ all my friends for the first time. Cuz those were the best two years. Those REALLY get me excited.

I'm with you on a lot of these things - WDWs like no other holiday for planning, preperation and memories :sohappy:

I have a weird one, but it is part of our pre-trip routine!

Since we usually go in late Oct-early November, the heat is usually on by then (cold in upstate NY) and we use this filter-scent pack that basically is like an air freshener for the whole house. There is one particular scent that we always put in just before we go, so we smell it the week or so before we leave and the house smells like it when we return. Well, we put it in last week, my son came out of his room (getting a 12 year old out of his room for anything but food and the toilet is a miracle!!), started sniffing and said "Mmmmmm........smells like it's time for Disney!!!!".

There are certain songs (totally non-WDW related) that may have been popular during past trips, or I had just simply picked up the CD before a trip, that now are "WDW songs" and I can only listen to them about a week and a half before a WDW trip and during the trip.

The night before we leave I always watch "National Lampoons Vacation" and figure....even if we have some issues on the trip, it will be better than this.

I listen to my WDW CD that I made years and years ago in Downtown Disney. (something I NEVER do outside of 'WDW Season')

Watch the old home movies and look at the pictures (something I rarely do outside of 'WDW Season')

Check wdwmagic about 100 times more than usual

Visit the official site and look at the webcams

Read more Trip Reports and reviews than usual

Lose lots of sleep and it doesn't really matter!!

My family usually does this. We go in the middle of August and every few nights we would wacth a different vacation's video starting in the beginning of July. We've gone 19 times so there's a lot to go through.

I usually do all of the usual stuff, watching old videos and flipping through old albums, and of course watching the planning videos. I also like to re-read trip reports from past vacations and listen to all my Disney music and watch as many Disney films as I can. My family also has taken to a weekly game of The Magic Kingdom Game as we countdown to our trip.

I always get really weird Disney Dreams. There's a few threads on the boards here that talk about them. Always bizzarre and strange.

Interesting

I don't know about the sniffing of the mascara. . . but everything else seemed norma for Disney Freaks (like us) to do.

In the past 4 months I have bought 4 Disney books and almost every night I take a bath and read one of them, or i at least flip through them.

I do make an interary of where we are going to eat at with the conformation numbers and I also write down the hours for each park for the days we are going to be there. My boyfriend thinks I'm nuts but I am ok with it.

I counted down the days on every calendar in the house so I can just look up and be reminded of how many days I have left before I will be there.

Yesterday was the 3 week mark and I jumped up and down on the couch when it turned Midnight. My boyfriend thought I was a crazy loon, but what can I say its been over 4 years since the last time I was there!!! :hammer:

I also made a list in class the other day of stuff I still had to buy and what I wanted to bring with, and I almost never do this!

And I come to this site and disneys at least once a day, and this site at least twice when I get bored. I am counting down the days and Only 20 days left and I will be in disney.

You aren't alone on the werid stuff you do before you go, I think everyone has something that do. :sohappy:

one of the main things i do is watch my old home videos to see how much things have changed (and also how stupid i looked back then) i also go through all of the memorbelia i've collected over the years (maps, keychains, tickets, FastPasses, misc. crap i've collected)...not to mention looking through the photo albums.

also, the vacation DVD's are on heavy rotation in the DVD player

this trip will be different though, because it's the honeymoon, so i'll be thinking about all the bride & groom stuff i want to get and how nice it will be to be there with my husband. (cheesy, i know :p )

1) I get all my Disney T-shirts out and go thru them over and over and over trying what to wear at what park.

2) Read the Birnbaum's Disney Guide book and compare it to last years book.

3) watching Disneyland USA DVD - Disney Treasures, so I can remeber what Uncle Walt said about Disneyland ( It also helps erase Eisner's comments on how to replace Walt Disney .).

4) Organize my Disney Pin collection..what do I need to buy that I don't already have.

5) Listen to all the Disney Music from the parks- "Lets All Sing Like the Birdies Sing ..tweet.....tweet,tweet..tweet,tweet."

6) Decide which ride to ride on first....Splash Mountain or Buzz ( It doesn't matter there's still going to be a line way out the door. ).

7) Make Dining Reservations with all the characters and make sure there is Plenty of Film.

8) Make a note to ask Edna Mode to redress park guest to fit in with The Disney Look instead of Las Vegas Street Corner Strippers.

9) Overpack suite case.

10) Take Plenty of medication in case of motion sickness on Mission Space , Tower of Terror or Seeing Las Vegas Street Corner Strippers.

11) Pick up a book or audio tape On How to speak Brazilian.

12) For everything else there is the Disney Visa Card.

13 ) Learn to look like Oliver Twist when you say " May I please have some more ,sir" when you run out of money buying disney stuff for yourself and need to borrow to by the rest of the folks at home disney stuff.

14) Practice running people over with baby strollers before they run you over for not having one.

15) Decide were everyone should meet IF they get lost or if you lose a child..This will help you from going on "it's a small world" to identify lost child.

April 13th thru April 20th 2005 at POP Century resort :sohappy: :sohappy:
