We just got back from POR and I must say the rooms were very very clean. I have never had any encounter with bedbugs on Disney Property.

i've never had an encounter with them. but they apparently are bad in europe and in central america , and with the amount of tourists from those areas, i suspect it may get to be a growing problem.

Yes, my sister-in-law did have a bad case in June. We were staying at AKL. They ended up sending her to ER because of an apparent alergic reaction. She took it like a trooper and Disney handled it well (big-time cleaning of the room and comped nights) but she still could have done without it!!!

Bedbugs are different than lovebugs. Bedbugs are becoming more of a problem here in the USA with the amount of international tourism. They have been making headlines in the St.Louis area ..warning holiday travelers what to be on the look out for. We've never had any encounters with these pests, but I think from now on I'll make a quick search of the beds (its mostly the sides, underneath etc, where they hide until night, then come out and bite you from what I've read) better safe than sorry.

Never a bedbug, many a lovebug in September. Those bad boys were nasty. When we would sit on a bench on something, after standing up they would be smushed into our clothes.

However, our rooms have always been very clean!

Beg Bug Issue

Bed bugs are a growing problem for hotels in the US. How clean a hotel is does not relate to bed bugs. Some extremely high end hotels have had there issues. In most cases they are brought in to a hotel from another guest ( in luggage and such). They do not have to feed ( bite people ) regularly- maybe once a week and multiply rapidly. They like the dark-- check around the bottom edges of the box spring and mattress, behind the headboard or pictures near the bed. They look somewaht like a tick or small stink bug. If they are there, you will see them if you look. They are hard to remove if found...ask to change rooms and wash all of your belonging and check you luggage-they can travel with you. They pose no true health risk and are not known to spread disease, but may cause a reaction. All in all, your odds are slim for encountering them, but it doesn't hurt to look. Most hotels know have a program for checking for them before you do and taking care of it. I hope that helps.
