We’ll(W,D,S,B,SiL,N)be heading down in June and have never stayed at the BC. Normally we try and keep it to the monorail resorts, no luck this trip since it was last minute. Just looking for some insight on the best ways around , food and etc ....

Not knowing much about your trip plans/tickets/etc. Just some opinions from me:
-Ale and Compass is good choice for nicer dinner along with Yachtsman.
-Ample Hills across the way on Boardwalk is great choice for dessert
-If you have park hopper or AP's then take a walk through EPCOT once to get to monorail to head to MK. It takes a while but it's a different way to go.
-You can walk to HS from your hotel. I think it's split on these boards as to who does that and who takes the friendship boats.
-Get to the pool early if you want a spot to sit. It gets really crowded really fast.

Where would you recommend trying to sit at the pool? If you have kids say 6 to 9 yrs old. Curious as we are going there in June

We have stayed at the Beach Club twice in the past 2 years, with our last visit in December 2018. The first time we stayed at the Beach Club Villas and in December we stayed in the main building. We liked BCV, A LOT better. We were repeat customers to Beach Club because we just LOVE the location. Between Yacht and Beach Club and Boardwalk Hotel, they are the best hotels on property for location in my opinion. Hate taking the bus because it just reminds me of my daily grind every day at home-just doesn't feel like vacation to me. So, having different modes of transportation besides the bus, makes the Beach Club the most attractive option to me. Staying at BC, the only time we would take the bus is if we were going to Animal Kingdom. We took the boat to Hollywood Studios. It was easy peasy to be able to walk next door thru the international gateway to enter Epcot. To get to either Magic Kingdom or the Polynesian Resort for my beloved Tonga Toast, we would walk through Epcot and jump on the Monorail at the park entrance to get there. We could also walk over to the Swan and Dolphin for their famous bloody Mary or walk a few steps to the Boardwalk bakery in the mornings. It just can't be beat for convienience and options. Enjoy your trip!

If you like to spend time by the pool, it is amazing. But it is also easy to lose site of everyone as the pool area is massive and you cannot see the whole thing from any one spot. And you also have to cross a public sidwalk in order to get on the large slide. Not a good pool if the adults want to lounge while the kids swim.

Everyone has given good advice on transportation, and I'll echo:

Studios - take the water taxi
- or hike over to Ample Hills, and then a short walk over to DHS
Epcot - walk over to IG
MK - same as prevoius posts through Epcot and Monorail
AK - this is going to be a bit of a challenge....you'll have shared busing with the rest of the Epcot Resorts!!

Food
At your resort
Cape May is great for breakfast
Beaches and Cream is really cool and food is decent

Boardwalk
Ample Hills is extra-tremendous

Head to Jelly Rolls at the Boardwalk one night. It's a dueling piano bar, and there's a cover, but it's a great place for adult to have a good time late at night.

Also, there's plenty of good dining options within a short walk. Flying fish at BW. Shulas, Blue zoo, kimonos, and IL Mulino at the swalphin resorts. Decent options for more standard fair are also around the lake.

We stay at BCV every August and love it.

1. Make use of the pool while you're there. They check MBs for everyone before going in and give you a wristband for the pool.
2. Epcot and DHS are super easy to access. Epcot is within walking distance. Taking the boat is actually longer. DHS...just take the boat and trust me on that one.
3. Food...Beach Club Marketplace has a decent QS breakfast. They change the menu frequently, but it's usually sandwiches, salads, and flatbreads for lunch and dinner. If you're by the pool, Hurricane Hannah's is also very good. Beaches and Cream has good food as well, but they only do carry out for ice cream. One thing; they don't stay open super late, so we always buy snacks to keep in the room. If you do find yourself needing a decent meal at 1 am, Swan/Dolphin have a 24 hour cafeteria.
4. MK, AK, and Disney Springs have traditional buses. For MK and AK, BC and Yacht Club share a route. For Disney Springs, I believe it's all of the Epcot resorts (including Swan, Dolphin, and Boardwalk). Overall, it's not bad. BC is the second stop on the route, but they keep the buses coming pretty well. If you go to a water park or Disney Springs, consider Uber or Lyft if you're in a rush.
5. The resort is one of the easier to navigate. The main hotel is one building, the DVC units are a separate building. It has an easy layout. It's also nice if you're being bused back in the middle of a thunderstorm because you can get to your room without going outside.

Hope this helps!

If you have some morning leisure time when you aren't rope dropping a park, head to France in EPCOT for breakfast. The bakery offerings are excellent, and you will enjoy getting to see part of the World Showcase during a much less crowded time. I agree with other endorsements on Ample Hills ice cream. Explore the rest of the Boardwalk...there are fun shops and food windows. IMO ESPN and Big River are very weak restaurant choices...I'd consider them among my worst dining choices at Disney. I like good bar food, and they didn't seem to have it. Depending on your your pace, the walk to DHS can be faster than the boat. Boats are fun, but waits, multiple stops, and slow speed don't always make them an express option. Our MK days we always end at the EP World Showcase. It is a good excuse for a monorail ride from MK to EP and we have a drink and/or snack before the short walk back to our resort.

Can you get through Epcot to the monorail and make it to Magic Kingdom for rope drop? I assume that this would only work if Epcot had extra magic hours

Love the BC (and YC too).

  • Proximity to International Gateway to walk into Epcot. Often take advantage of that with Park Hoppers to just go in and grab a snack/dessert in a country or to catch the fireworks.
  • The pool at the hotel, Stormalong Bay, is like a mini waterpark, and could spend hours in there.
  • A lot of food options between the BC/YC, and across the way at the Boardwalk.
  • Not a bad boat ride to the Studios.
The only knock I have, however, is the size of the resort. While you might be in a room close to Epcot, you'd be a decent hike to the main lobby, boat transportation, etc.

I will be honest, walking is faster for DHS than taking the boat. If we are being 'lazy' or just missed the boat we will go to Swan/Dolphin to get on/off.

Ample Hills is way better than B&C so don't miss it. If you want a B&C feel to the food and cannot get in, try the Fountain at the Dolphin. The buffeteria at the Dolphin is great too as is Fresh (among other restaurants there).

The main pool can be insane and very cramped feeling. Very little shade/covering if you want it. You have to exit the pool area to get to the slide. The quiet pool is nice if you want downtime that isn't crazy by the pool.

Lately the QS has been very miss for lunch/dinner in terms of choices. Head to the YC for more choices at theirs.

We have heard some parts of Stormalong Bay are deep and not suitable for those who only wish shallow water. Perhaps carefully paying attention to your youngsters is advisable.

They now offer cabanas. I haven’t tried them yet (we have them reserved for our next trip) so I can’t say for sure what they are like, but from the pictures online they look pretty good. Anyway, not sure whether you want to spend the extra money, but that would give you your own little “private area” at what is undoubtedly the best pool on property.

Enjoy your time at BC!

That’s only in the lazy river part, which is it’s own separate entity. Easy enough to just stay out of there if you wish.
