My oldest daughter, who is three, REALLY wants to eat at be our guest. If I book the reservation exactly six months before our planned trip, can I change the date with in a certain time period without being charged. We definitely want to go, but not sure of the exact day of our week long vacation.

Welcome aboard and you can change them up to 24 hours ahead. That being said they are hard to get and you may or may not be able to get another time or day you want. 45 days out and the week before seems to be when they open up as that when most people seem to change their minds. The hours come out in time for you to make plans, just check here for operating hours a few days before ADR day, good luck

You can make your ADRs at 180 days before your arrival date - either one day at a time if you're staying offsite, or to cover the first 10 days of your trip if you've got a WDW resort reservation.
You can add, alter or cancel any reservation at any time (up to 24hrs before the reservation) without being charged PROVIDED that there is availability for your party size.
At your 180 day point you may not have BOG reservations available to you every day - other guests making the most of their 180+10 feature may have bagged most of the spots.
They do get cancellations (as people don't want to be charged $10 per person for no shows).
My advice - Book your BOG reservation at 180 days and stick to that day for a Magic Kingdom visit

Very hard to get As others stated I would guess if you tried to cancel and rebook you would never get it again! My 2 year old loves BOg too And we're going for lunch and dinner in September! Have fun!!

If you amend an already booked ADR (or book a brand new one) the system confirms the new one BEFORE it cancels the existing - assuming that the times overlap.

I got one at 180 for our original travel dates in late July, but then when we had to rebook for earlier in July, I wasn't able to get another one for a few weeks. Then I found an 8:20pm ADR, but kept holding out for an earlier time. Around early March I was able to book 7:20pm, and then suddenly in early May I noticed a slew of ADRs opened up, so I rebooked again for even earlier on our first night! It seems checking 45 days out as figment says is the key. Good luck!

This is the blessing and curse with having to book ADRs so far in advance. On one hand...you can get practically anything you want if you book right at 6am ET on day 180 and you're set...unless you want to change plans. You might decide 3 weeks out that you want BOG on a different day than you booked on day 180, but this is the hardest ADR to score and even if you stalk the website like crazy, there's a very good chance you'll wind up with nothing.

Rule of thumb...if you have a hard to get ADR and it's a must do...you plan your days/trip around that.

Back when BOG opened for booking in 2012, I spent nearly 2 hrs on the phone desperately trying to get through to score one of the very first ADRs (not done online for fear it would crash the site). I got an ADR, but it wasn't for the day I wanted. I knew there was 0 chance of me getting another ADR, so I reworked a chunk of my trip around that one ADR to make it work. We were about 3 mos out from our trip at that point, so it wasn't an easy task...but it was a heck of a lot easier to stalk for a new 50sPT ADR and CRT. So, if you get an ADR for BOG, I'd keep it and make it work.

As opposed to what? Waiting in line on the day, hoping to find a place to eat? It isn't the ADR that causes the problem; it's the crowds of people wanting to eat at the location.

It wasn't always like that, frankly. This need to book everything (even second and third rate TS) well in advance is a new phenom in the longer history of Disney.

No, but that's the world we live in now. I've book a quick extended weekend trip to WDW, and while TS meals are not really part of the plan, I wanted to take my family to one or two. Heaven help me find a reservation at this point even though my trip isn't for 110 days.

I'm not complaining, mind you, I was fairly certain that I'd be hard pressed to find the places that we were hoping for. That's ok, I can live with QS meals for the weekend.
