I don't think people are knocking the Plaza in favor of BOG, it seems like it has always been considered good but "not quite a TS" even though it's considered a TS....and BOG is the latest and greatest, plus it has a Disney movie theme. Plaza sounds like a great choice for your first day lunch - nice assortment on the menu + you can order from the Ice Cream Parlor menu too, & super great location (on Main St, very pleasant atmosphere, inside so the weather won't matter and nice big windows for a Magical view - if the walls are down )
Just a thought - since you are planning on an early lunch at BOG on the EMH morning, if for some reason you don't get a lunch FP, and if you don't mind standing in line for a little while, you can get in line before the 11:00 opening (I think I've read 10:30 as a suggested time, but if you are in the area anyway, you can keep an eye on it, and get in if it looks like it's getting too long). Once it opens, the line moves along pretty well, and it seats a Lot of people.
Sounds like you have a good plan! Have a wonderful time!!
I'm not knocking the Plaza. I have eaten there many times and do enjoy it but mainly because I don't have to order and look through the crowds for a table while I balance three people's food on a tray. I don't think their food is better than the quick services, but that does not keep me from making a reservation every trip. To be able to get out of the sun and relax in their nice atrium like dining room is very welcoming to me. BoG has better food though in my opinion.I wonder if people are knocking the Plaza now in favor of BOG? I think I will keep the Plaza for my first day (as I know I will starving since my arrival time is so early) and I will get the burger or cheesesteak platter followed by the banana split. I will try for BOG FP+ lunch on the EMHs morning for a early lunch (I am not sure of their times though).
Thanks for the help!It is still outside the regular FP+ system. You need to access it via a different URL, and enter your booking number. You can then choose the time and meal.
Just as a heads up we were there just last week and they no longer use stainless steel or china at lunch. The plates and utensils are now throw away but are higher quality than the regular disney parks paper plates.
I personally have had a better time at lunch than dinner. I've done lunch 5 times at Be Our Guest and dinner 3. All three times with dinner there has been something slightly off be it the service or the food. At lunch I've never had any problems. Of course I haven't ever had to stand in the up to hour long line since we usually get the pre-book a slot option so that could affect what we think of the lunch.
We ate lunch there on Sunday, June 22 and they still had real plates and silverware, as seen in my photo.Well this makes me sad
We were in the Rose Gallery. Even our cupcakes came out on real plates! Very odd!!!Interesting we ate there on the same day and for us there was definitely not real silver ware. It was plastic but silver colored and heavier duty. The plates maybe I am remembering what our cupcakes were brought out on.
Which room did you eat in? We were in the West Wing.
FWIW, the WDW website still says lunch is served on fine china. Direct from the page:
"And even though it’s quick service, Mrs. Potts has insisted that you’ll still dine in a manner befitting royalty, with real china and flatware."
How exactly does one snag a FP+ spot for lunch? We ate at BOG for dinner on our last trip and loved it, so I'm thinking lunch there would be a great idea as well.
Thanks ahead of time, y'all.
If you are "randomly selected" you should get an email telling you how to do it. Otherwise Google might be able to point you in the direction of the BOG FP+ page where your confirmation number (I believe it still won't work if you have letters in the conf) might potentially grant you access 30 days out. Or it might not, depends on a lot of things.

However, it seems to range from 30 days to day of arrival for resort guests if it works or not.
My stay begins July 12th. I've never received an email invite. I just logged in to the above site using my MDE info.
I was checking every few days and it always said nothing was available. Two days ago I checked and it let me book a fastpass for 7/13.
