Be Our Guest as character dining?

We all know that they're planning on having an interactive Lumière at BoG, but they're apparently doing some tests to see if Beast could be a character dining option at the location.
I, personally, think that this is ridiculous. MAYBE after he gets his "makeover", but that won't be till next year, after the restaurant opens.
Hopefully management realizes that this is not currently a smart option.

I would LOVE it if Beast made appearances at Be Our Guest! He's my favorite Disney prince and we never get to see him anywhere. :(

I've heard BOG will be a glorifed Chuck E. Cheese. I sure hope not.

And if they did consider it a character meal, would they only have Beast? I would think they would need more characters at the location for a real character meal.

Kind of complicated but I'll try to explain. Some of my details might be off so someone correct me.

Prior to entering for dinner, guests will have the option of a meet and greet with Belle. Guests can skip this line similar to the way you can skip the interactive features at the Mansion queue. Lumiere is the pre-show in the holding room prior to the Belle meet and greet. Diners meet Belle, then are seated for dinner. Also, as I understand it, Belle and Beast (slash prince Andrew or whatever his name is) will make appearances at dinner but will not go table to table. For example, there's a balcony that runs around the upper level of the ballroom. Belle and Beast might make an appearance, share a kiss or dance or something, then wave goodbye.

Um... what?

I had the impression the balcony wasn't full scale. I need to dig back through photos/video. Perhaps it is full scale and the height of the first story makes it look small.

Um... what?

Maybe it's just me, but what you described kind of sounds like that. A show, limited personal interaction with guests. (Unless Drew's joking or meant something else...)

My friend was just hired to work there today. He called me as soon as he got the position, because I have been following BOG from the second plans were released while we were CPing together. He told me that as of right now it is NOT a character dining, and it will be open to the public in late November.

You know what?

I loved taking my kids to Chuck E. Cheese when they were little. The little shows that happened during the meals were a lot of fun. I think I'd love a Disney version of this with more food options than Chuck E.'s pizza.

I'm hoping it's very lively inside BOG. I picture the happy music from the movie playing, but in a way that does not drive you crazy (meaning: not too repetitious that the song gets stuck in my head, but enough so that I feel like I am in the song and eating in the castle). I'd love to see characters from the movie walking around.

I think it would be BRILLIANT if they had little carts they could push around and there'd be a Mrs. Potts, Chip, Cogsworth, Lumiere, etc. on the cart and they'd say a few things and would move a little...they could be simple animatronics and the host/ess could have lines that trigger them to speak with little pushes of buttons. Just to welcome guests around the restaurant.

I'm also hoping they have something in the three dining rooms that is a little show of sorts that makes you think of the Be Our Guest number from the movie...with all the silverware forming the Eiffel Tower and dancing and such. Maybe mirrors can become "enchanted' and show us this?

I'm most interested, however, in seeing the rose that is rumored to be included...with petals falling and being so mysterious and beautiful.

I want BOG to be fun, lively, have great music, and provide entertainment at the meal.

That's what I wanted when I took my kids to Chuck E. Cheese's many moons ago and I am a mom that says there is indeed a want and a need for something like this. Don't knock it because some of us love it!

What does that even mean? BoG will have bad pizza? Arcade games and cheap prizes for tickets? Outdated animatronic shows? Large playgrounds and play tubes all over the place? I'm just trying to think of one thing that would make the two comparable. Your statement just doesn't seem to make sense to me, can you elaborate?

Um... what?

Right?

The original artwork showed a Lumiere on a cart like Remy. Don't know if it makes the cut though.

Right?

The original poster was trying to take a cheap slap at BOG with the Chuck E. Cheese comparison.

I took it to mean he/she had a problem with the little animatronic shows inside CE.C while you eat...and the implication was that BOG would have those and this person wouldn't approve of that.

I say bring on the shows! The more animatronics the better!

But, I'm someone who would love it if Enchanted Tiki Room was turned into a restaurant as originally intended and the birds would be a dinner show.

I am from the era of dinner shows and would delight in one if BOG provided it.

Couldn't agree more!

I was more trying to point out how out of left field a comparison it was to make as the two couldn't possibly be more different. Though, it was sort of fun picturing the amazing grandeur of BoG with a Chuck E. Cheese shoehorned inside, tubes and all.

Honestly, I'm really surprised how aggressively some people out there love to malign Disney. With "fans" like these, the Mouse doesn't need enemies.

I know of nothing on Earth like BOG...I have never heard of anything so cool and lavishly themed. I am literally counting the days until I get to experience it.

I think some people out there just eat too many crabapples for breakfast. Comparing it to Chuck E. Cheese? Seriously? That reminds me of when my daughter taught high school and I got to sit in on her class once and there were a few little smart-alecks who thought, at age 13 or whatever, that they just knew the whole score and they'd make stupid little remarks sometimes just to get my daughter's goat. After school on the way home, we talked about this and she said the boys (and it was almost always boys) who did this were very insecure with themselves and would make fun of something or something to get attention...while also hoping that people picked on this other thing instead of picking on that particular smart-aleck himself.

I see that a lot on Disney boards from people who are supposedly Disney fans. Nothing is ever good. Everything has to be compared poorly to something else out there under the sun. "Universal supposedly does it better".

Why come to a Disney board then?

I work hard all day and look forward to sitting down with a cup of coffee and learning about the latest exciting thing happening in my favorite spot in the world. You have no idea how much I look forward to my annual trip to WDW. The day a trip ends, I start planning the next one. I love it that much. On bad days, I love knowing that WDW exists, is always changing, and will welcome me with something new the next time I go.

Ain't never felt that way about Chuck E. Cheese or anything stamped with a Universal logo. Doubt I ever will.

You're absolutely right. His real name is indeed Prince Adam.

Is it just me, or would people dining as guests in the castle not expect him to show up at some point?

I expect in BOG that I'd encounter Belle and Beast at some point. I also expect to see animatronics of the characters that became household items: Lumiere, Cogsworth, Mrs. Potts, Chip, the dog, etc.

I would also like to see some kind of short dinner show that repeats every hour or so (so you'd most likely only catch it once while you were eating).

He is Prince Adam, Prince of Eternia, Defender of the secrets of Castle Grayskull.
This is Cogsworth, his fearless friend.

Fabulous secret powers were revealed to me the day he held aloft his magic rose and said "By the power of Disney, I have the power!"

Cogsworth became the mighty BattleCogsworth and he became Beast, the most powerful man in the universe.

Only three others share this secret: their friends Lumierre, Mrs. Potts and Chip. Together they defend The Magic Kingdom from the evil forces of Gaston.

I am not knocking Chuck E. Cheese's. I have visited there before. However the name "Disney" should mean something and that means quality. I hope BOG turns out great- though I've heard some rumors and those rumors were so so on BOG(food quality). That's why I said it. I hope they are wrong. I guess time will tell.

We come here because we love and care about Disney and enjoy discussing it. However, that doesn't mean that I accept or think everything Disney does is up to standard or okay. I still love the parks and enjoy them but that doesn't mean I think Disney can do no wrong.
