Barbossa vs. Original Pirate Captain

Do you like the original Captain of the Wicked Wench, or the current one, Barbossa?

I have nothing against the original attraction, but personally I like the film additions - they felt really natural, especially Barbosa, and I'm a fan of his character as well, so it's a win-win!

Is it neat to see Barbossa YES do I think it was a intelligent placement for the character YES, BUT.... I do think they went a bit overboard slamming Mr Depp into so much of the rest of the attraction.

I'm fine with the Barbossa movie upgrade to the attraction. His voice accent, mannerisms, demeanor, and appearance fit the ride like a glove and pays tribute to classic movie pirates. He was also my favorite character in the movie series.

I like both. I think the addition of Barbossa was fine.

Adding Jack Sparrow probably would have been okay, but for all the light pollution from all the flash photo-takers.

I'm glad that trend has now died down a bit, now that cell phone cameras aren't quite as new. For a while IMO, parkgoers were a bit photo-crazed.

I prefer the original Paul Frees Pirate Captain (luckily still in Paris) but I also love the Barbossa animatronic at the same time.

Wicked Wench Pirate. He is on the original WDW attraction poster and I really of course, miss that Paul Frees' voice delivery. There is less and less Paul Frees all of the time. They did not bother to salvage him as the Auctioneer so now I miss the captain even more. "Bloomin' cockaroachers"

Pretty much same here... I love Barbosa as a character but original Disney's hard to pass up!

I believe the Pirate Captain's name is actually Morgan. Earlier I was reading an unused script for the ride, so that's where I found it out.

I was today years old when I realized Barbossa is spelled with two S's. Sorry everybody LOL.

As MUCH as I love Paul Frees, there's just too much of him on Pirates (aahhhhh, I know, sorryyyyy). Plus, not only is it word for word the same dialog, but it's VERY obvious that Rush was living his best life in that recording session.

It s OK... I'd probably like it more if they had toned down the Captain Jack over-saturation a tad bit... seems like every section of the ride has at least 2 characters using his name... And my goodness... don't have the ride stop at the end when Jack is singing in the treasure room... oof... Talk about Sparrow fatigue My wife would disagree however... she thinks there isn't enough of Jack!
