Actually, I saw the story on CNN, and the reporter (some local person) pointed out how close they were to THE tourist destination....she pointed at EE in the distance, and sure enough, over the top of trees was the upper half of EE. So its not super close....but it is not far either.

It's close enough that they blocked off US 192 at Sherberth road (the one that leads to DAK cast parking).

yup, made leaving WDW a nightmare this morning. Took me 1 1/2 hours to get 2 1/2 miles from AKL. Kept getting detoured by sheriff's and this was about 10:30. I can still see the helicopters and once in a while sirens.

They have closed Black lake rd as well and opened the road to AKL that I have never seen open and are sending traffic down that road. There are no real good bypass roads at this point to the area west of the standoff. The bank is "as the crow flies only about 1/4 mile if that from the AKL main entrance.

wow the nutties have sure been out in this area. My first day here and i go to walmart to find that baracaded off . turns out a guy went in started shooting tried to shoot a security guard missed and shot himself in the head. and now this. is it in the water?
