We have never flown before so please ignore the ignorance! We are flying air tran and it says on their website each paying customer(would that exclude my infant daughter if I am not paying for a seat for her?) can have 2 checked bags. Is that on top of the carry on or does that include the carry on? I also want to bring a stroller and car seat and can't find any info on that!

I would imagine that since you are not paying for your daughter that you would not get to check extra baggage unless you paid their fee. The car seat and stroller should not be a problem. The stroller you can check at the gate. Your carry on's are in addition to your checked baggage. Most airlines allow you a carry on and a personal bag (purse, laptop, etc.). Of course, medical equipment is not considered a countable item.

I would call air tran and verify, that way you know how to pack. You may want to consider shipping bulk items (diapers, etc.) before you go. You can ship them to your resort and have it held in bell services until you arrive.

Your daughter (0 to 24 months) Has no seat and that doesn't allow her any Check-in luggage... and most of the time they will allow a small cary on... depends a bit on the flight attandant...

But I don't know what the luggage limit is per adult for Airtran... most of the time it's 2 suitcases per adult...

For bulk things like diapers, baby food and the like, consider making a stop at a store on your way to Disney...stock up on water and snacks too. Just pack supplies to carry you through the flight and a little extra.

If you use a car service like Quicksilver, they will provide a stop like that for you as part of delivery.

"Checked bags" means bags checked with the airline at the ticket counter or with a skycap, and that are loaded in the belly of the airplane. These are different from carry-ons, which, as the name implies, are carried onto the airplane by you and stay with you.

You can gate check the stroller, which will not count against your luggage total. When you arrive at your gate, tell the gate agent you wish to gate check the stroller. They'll tag the stroller, and you'll get a receipt. Use the stroller on the jetway, and when you get to the actual aircraft entrance, pull off to the side before going in. Fold up the stroller and leave it there. A ramper (airport luggage handler) will come up and get the strollers and put them in the baggage compartment as the last items loaded. When your plane arrives in Orlando, a ramper will unload the gate checked items first, and bring them up to the inside of the jetway just outside the entrance to the aircraft. You should see it as you exit the plane. If you don't, just pull over to the side and wait a minute or two.

If this is a non-stop flight to Orlando, I guarantee you won't be the only person gate checking a stroller.

As for the car seat, I have no idea.

It sounds like your child will be a "lap baby," so you won't be using the car seat inside the airplane. So my question is, are you renting a car when you get to Orlando? If not, then why are you bringing the car seat???

Car seats will be be considered as one piece of checked luggage. Car seats cannot be used on the plane unless they are FAA approved, but since your daughter will be on your lap, that will not be an issue.

As for carry on, you are allowed 1 piece of carry on luggage, plus one personal item (purse, diaper bag, laptop, etc.)

Eric is correct as to the stroller.
