A lot of people do not like religion very much - either because they are fed up of people telling them they are going to burn in hell for not agreeing to their particular take on a diety, or due to the big time suffering caused all over the planet in the name of one god or another.

Its as if you have read my mind...

I mean... I even cringe when friends and I are out for dinner or something... and religion comes up... I just get dead quiet.

One of my friends even said... "I notice you get quite uncomfortable when I start talking about church..."

But I will not go into my reasons why the catholic church and I dont get along anymore... another story for another time perhaps... and away from these forums. :)

I wasn't going to repy to this but I have to say something. I've been keeping up with this thread the whole time.

Now, this is JUST MY OPINION, ok? Please....don't kick me out for this.
I think most people's problem with religion is that most every religion (mine included) tries to FORCE all it's members into a mold, a strict set of predetermined beliefs. I, for one, have a problem with this. I am an intelligent adult who can think for herself. I just don't like people telling me that because I am Baptist (or whatever religion) that I can not do _______(insert any thing) or must do _______ or believe _______ (insert your own words). I have my own very strong beliefs but they do not "fit the mold" of any one religion. My beliefs come from my research of religions and my faith. I think my personal relaltionship with my God is my business and it is not my place (or anyone else's) to force it on anyone else. Now, if someone asks, that is a different story. I'd be glad to share.

Now, that said, I do not find dreamteacher's signature offensive. If I did, I would not read it. Dreamteacher has his right to believe whatever he wants without me or anyone else telling him that it is wrong, etc....

I really hope no one is offended by this. It is not meant to be offensive. This is just my opinion on things. I like just about everyone on here. So please, don't take this the wrong way.

That's the brand that I was brought up with. I may have lost the faith, but I can't shake that permanent feeling of guilt that comes with the package

I don't have a problem talking religion with people, but like most I can get irked by those who force their belief on you from atop the pedestle they have placed themselves.

Personally, I think of religion as a highly personal matter, and that each person has to figure out what they believe by themselves. However, I have sincere respect for anyone with a different religion or opinion about religion. Can't we all just get along? :)
