bad guests

People seem to like to complain about the Cast Members at Disney World but has anyone taken the time to complain about some of the Guests? I just got from WDW and saw people do some very undinsey like things. I'll just point out one.
On the Tower of Terror, these 2 teenage girls were sitting inbetween their parents in the back row. As soon as the ride started to move the girls quickly slide out of the seatbelts. They were all holding hands as the ride dropped and the girls flew way out of there seats. Now I ask you, was this just a fun thrill? Would you do it? Now what if they slipped and hit the roof of the ride, or hit another guest. Who do you think they will sue? WDW. And the other guests that would be injured, who would they sue? WDW. Now is it WDW fault that they can slip out of the seat belts or is it the girls fault for failing to follow simple instructions for safty. And the parents went along with it. Oh well had to vent.

I would think WDW would be at fault in this case. The ride should have been stopped immediately and the girls escorted out of the park.

How do you slip out of those seatbelts without being noticed on camera?

It's weird you mention this sort of incident. A few weeks ago was my first time on ToT since the lapbars were replaced with seatbelts. And the entire time I kept thinking "What on earth is to stop someone from unbuckling their seat belt?!" Yet I had a little bit of faith in humanity that nobody would be stupid enough to do it.

I guess I'm not always right.

I always thought that once the ride started, you couldn't unbuckle the seatbelts, they are somehow locked.

They ARE locked. That's why I'm surprised that the CMs who are supposed to be watching the cameras didn't notice the girls squirming out of them.

When my family was riding 'It's a Small World' the group behinds us were talking on Cellphones and generally talking very loud.
It was very hard to enjoy the ride.

I still don't see how it's possible to squirm your way out of the seat belts. Furthermore, I can assure you that the speed of which you drop is insufficient to cause a guest to hit the ceiling. Are you sure they actually removed the seat belts?

Before I list my pet peeve about the guests, I just want to express my appreciation for the majority (99%) percent of the guests at WDW. Most of them are fantastic people and far above the crowd you'd find at a six flags and even Universal to some extent. Anyways, the one thing that bothers me is during the pre-show to Tower of Terror, people sometimes scream or yell "Oh god" when the lights flicker off. It's not a frequent occurrence, but its distracting enough for me to grow agitated. I also can't stand it when people talk in TOT's elevator between the show floors.

Oh come on, someone screamin oh god is not THAT annoying. And talking in between the scenes???? What do you want them to do, just sit there and do nothing??? They're excited to be at WDW, leave em' alone!

OH yea, I'm sure. They didn't unbuckle the seat belts, as soon as the doors closed they slipped there legs up and over the alreadly locked belts and sat on top of them, they were skinny girls. It really only took a couple seconds and anyone that would be watching on a camera, if they looked away, may have missed it. But I'm sure because I watched the whole crazy thing. And about them hitting the ceiling, sure that may not happen, but what if the slip and hit you sitting in front of them.
Now the seat belts are better than the lap bars, just ask my wife. We rode the ride a few years ago and she sat in between her BIG brother and her dad and the lap bar didn't even get close to securing her in.
All in all the new ride is so much better than the older versions, different everytime, very cool.

I also agree about the TOT and all the waiting rooms before the rides and people talking. But what are you going to do. I really feel bad for the people who are going on the ride for the first time and others are talking right over the 'show'. Don't let it bug you though, I'd rather be in a waiting room than in line.

Tell me about it! The same thing happened to me once! I didn´t enjoy that ride, I was scared because I couldn´t make myself sit down!
The other times, I simply loved it...

That's what I meant. It bothers me because it may be someone else's first time on the ride. Calm down texanspivey, I'm entitled to my opinion. I don't mind if they have a quick exchange, but these people feel it is necessary to hold an entire conversation, which tends to bleed into the 5th dimension. You know when you're at a movie and the person next to you starts talking? It completely (at least for me) brings me out of the movie and it takes a while for to get back into it. Same thing for rides; especially one such as Tower of Terror where the audio is a very strong component of the experience. As for the people screaming during the pre-show, they're most often teenageres and on several occasions the CM had to tell them to stop, because it is very distracting. I don't care if it's their first time on the ride, they should have the common decency to not ruin the experience for others. Maybe you had to be there to understand my point.

Yup, they were installed shortly after TOT4 was introduced.

Either this happens a lot or I was behind you on the ride. :lol: Yes, I'm sure this happens all the time on rides. It is very difficult to enjoy a ride when someone is always talking on a cell phone. I forget the rides I have heard it on but it is the sign of a bad guest.

I think I was in the same boat with you guys!! :lol:
As for the stupid girls getting out of the TOT seatbelts, really everybody is at fault in a way. As teenagers, the girls should know that the seat belts are there for a reason. And what were their parents doing while their children where getting themselves out of the seatbelts?? Just watching them and laughing? And the CMs should have been watching the cameras and should have caught them and stopped the ride and escorted them out of the park. Mainly, though, I think it's the parents fault. How could they just sit there? If you don't care about your own kids at least think about the other people in the elevator they might hurt. :brick:

I totally agree with you andre85, though. 99% of Disney guests are wonderful and are better than even the Universal guests for the most part.

Is anyone else annoyed by people who take flash photos during shows such as Muppets 3D ot Its Tough to Be a Bug even though there are signs all the way to your seat telling youy not to AND THEN our wonderfull cast members take the time to tell them again? How rude. Also, the people who sit in the middle of the isles when you're constantly told to move all the way down? I wouldnt have tha patience to deal with those people. To all the CMs on the board, KUDOS TO YOU!!!!!:sohappy:

I'm not here to start trouble, but I just want to say this from my experience. They have cameras in both shafts, and I have been in 2 different elevators, on 2 different occasions, and even if people had there seatbelt on, if they were flying to high, the elevator was immediatley stopped, mid drop. And they had there seatbelts on...With the angle of the seat, and the way the belt is situated, there is no way they could get out of the seat belt, without standing up, and if they stood up, they would most definatley be caught on camera. I just find your story hard to believe, but weirder things have happend.

We were on that same boat too!

I get annoyed when people take flash pictures anywhere they're asked not to...

as for the girls on the TOT... I can't believe the parents would even allow it in the first place... I agree... it seems to me that the fault is a bit everyone's.

Ugh, I wish I had pictures. OK first the parents, what were they doing? Holding the girls hands. They were all holding hands so they wouldn't fly out of control. As for the seatbelts. These girls had to be 13 or 14 with skinny little legs. Let's imagine that the lights turn off. Immediatley the girl will bring her legs and feet up under her and slide out from under the seat belt. I watched the entire thing. I was sitting in front of them with my head turned around. I was stunned. And yes the parents were laughing with them. As soon as the ride was over and the doors opened they were leaning forward and unbuckled the seat belt as they got off. They were very proud of thier acheivement but I don't even believe that was the first time they have done it. My story is true, I saw it. Believe me or not but things like this happen all the time. People are always getting out of the restraints somehow. Sure sometimes nothing happens, other times people get hurt or killed. This family was lucky and the girls got an extra thrill out of the ride. What happens when they aren't so lucky.

Oh yea, on Pirates the guy in front of me had his video camera light on, the loud speaker told him to turn it off, kinda wierd but he stopped.
