Just wondering? Does anyone else agree with me that back to the future needs a whole new ride, or at least a update?

I dont think they need a new ride, but a big rehab on it would be nice! Maybe some more special effects, like wind, heat and so forth!

lol More padding!

i think it is in desperate need of some added effects... it's one of the harders 'motion' rides for me to actually get into... mostly it just feels like i'm watching a big screen.... a little work on it would make it top notch...

I do admit that its one of a kind, and has a good story, but some parts of it are just too fake looking. The dinosaur for one thing...How could that fake looking, claymation dinosaur compete with the jurassic park dinosaurs that they have next door? Heat and cold effects would be nice for when you go into certain parts of the ride, and the ride also doesn't feel like it's syncronized to the movie anymore. And on top of all this, I'm sure they'd like to get that texico sign ort of the ride, now that their sponser is hess!

Also, stuff in the car usually doesn't work. A lot of the times, the little in car tv doesn't work, and I've only had all four smoke vents working once, and it's a shame they don't work more often because it was a really cool effect.

Instead of seeing your car rise out of the garage, the car would start to move foward, and the smoke would fill up the windsheld while you were moving up (still felt like you were moving fowards) and then when the smoke thinned out a little you were seeing the lightning that you see whenever you time travel on the ride.

Wow! So that’s how it was supposed to look? I guess I’ve never seen it in full form and I rode it during the first month it was open. Oh well…

I'd say that Back to the Future is pretty outdated now (most simulators are) and the only thing that would save it is a MAJOR rehab, plus added effects and possibly update the movie with better effects. Is it just me, or do most of Universal Studio's rides need major rehabs? I hope they know to take better care of IOA's rides.

Well...I guess when it happened it could have been a mess up, since i've only seen do this once, but if it was a mess up, it was one for the better and I wish this "mess up" would happen more often!

I agree. Most of Universal Studios seems outdated and old and one gets the strong impression that once an attraction there opens, it’s all downhill from there. I noticed a few things about even the shows the last time I was there. I did the Hitchcock thing and they totally changed the second stage area part taking most of the original out and replacing it with some goofy guy dressed in the normal employee uniform talking and the western stunt show used to have horses in it. In fact, the opening scene was one of the guys falling off of a running horse.

Cool!! A subject I know alot about!!

There was talk that UNI was going to take them (BTTF the Ride) down or a Major Rehab/Re-do in Cali and in Orlando. But then Vivendi came along..and I have not heard alot since the Vivendi take over.

The ride is a HUGE HIT in Japan though!

OK, Granted the BTTF theme is dated...there has not been a BTTF movie since the late 80's early 90's. There was talk about a BTTF 4 in the works...maybe even a prequel type scenario, (which proved to be kind of a lame idea the way it was pitched) but with Michael J. Fox's illness, and stepping down from Spin City..Uni put it back on the back shelf, and there has not been much talk of a BTTF 4 since then.

I have not heard anything from the powers that be or my connections at UNI in a while. This is Kind of an issue that comes up once in a while. and gets pushed back on the back burner. There thinking is..."Well...Why tear it down?...Will there be a part 4?" Makes sense right? And, "We could do a re-hab if and when a Part 4 comes out?" Or..."Scrap the whole damn thing...and put something else there."

That and they are huge procrastinators when it comes to anything BTTF related.
The Trilogy still has not made it to DVD...due to legal issues and rights to the movies in foreign markets. I am guessing that the Trilogy will make it to DVD between the 2nd / 3rd quarter of 2002, If Uni gets their ducks in a row on this major legal/rights issue.

Then maybe Uni will dress the ride up...and even do a helluva upgrade/rehab.

Wasn't that the problem the region encoding on DVDs was supposed to solve? I'll tell you, these companies and their bright ideas :)

If you want to know more about the DVD just visit http://www.bttf.com/cgi-bin/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=forum&f=9&SUBMIT=Go which is the official forum of the whole trilogy.
About the ride, there were some rumors about changing some parts of the film or update some effects which are already old compared to the new ones (take note that the ride was constructed in 1994). The attraction name wouldn't change, though it was mentioned that it would be called BTTF THE RIDE 2, but it wasn't confirmed.
