Is anyone else glad that Disney is finally going back to 2D animation where they actually draw the cartoons... That is what made Disney what it is today... I can not wait for Frog Princess to be released in 2009. Back to the way Disney should be...Movies with music in them... I prefer it! I am sure you all have seen Finding Nemo the Musical... Just think if they had actually done that with the movie... It would have been amazing...

Yes I am very ready for a return to 2-D animation.

Also it seems back in the days of movies like BatB, TLM, TLK, etc. the movies were much better quality as far as the actual story.
Nowadays with everything Pixar, they are great of course, but they try to turn everything into one big raging comedy.
I think the older movies were much better with a serious story and a few jokes here and there to keep the kids interested.

I'm so excited for the next 2D movie (The Princess and the Frog). I feel like Enchanted gave us a little taste of the old 2D at the beginning, and I was yearning for a full-length cartoon after that movie. It just brings back so many memories for me.

I couldn't agree more... Guess I was excited when I wrote this... I messed the title of the movie all up... OOPS!

I was looking forward to Rapunzel. Is that still going ahead? We need some new princesses!

I love the old style films, I was never a fan of the Pixar films. They were ok, but I missed the music. I love good old fashioned Disney music!

I'm happy Lasseter has re-established the 2D department at Disney, but don't forget that this is also the department that gave us such great films as the Black Cauldron (flop) and Treasure Planet, Home on the Range and Atlantis (major financial flops).

This department in the post-Pocahontas years really took a nose dive quality wise. Even Pocahontas, which was supposed to be Disney greatest film became a dissapointment after it failed to live up to the "not-supposed-to-be-great" Lion King. Things changed drastically, but I also believe that the studio at that point was taking great chances with a lot of their films which is something that Walt generally did. They were pushing the envelope on a lot of things...even John Silver from Treasure Planet (the registration issues of having to line that 3D arm up to the 2D body was a nightmare when they first started.)

I think that the downfall fell somewhere amongst the viewers and the overload of animated cartoons that came after Lion King. Studios popped up everywhere and really flooded the market and soon enough, some of these studios were churning out junk and Disney was trying to keep up so in turn, some of the movies they green-lit and put out did not fare as well as past attempts.

I'm very excited for Rapunzel though...the stuff I've seen from it is absolutely georgeous and is the best looking 3D stuff that I've ever laid my eyes on. Glen Keane has truly pushed 3D in a direction that it hasn't gone before.

Rapunzel is supposed to be 3D and I'm curious as to how that will turn out, but yes as for new princess's I can wait for the princess and the frog! (hence my avatar :D) As for the 3D movies other than The 2 toys storys, cars, and ratatouille I kinda thought they sucked!

I think the Princess and the Frog will the deciding factor. If it is successful, you'll continue to see films in the traditional hand drawn 2-D format.

If not, who knows when you'll see that type of movie again and the computer animated movies might become the norm.
