Hello and Happy Monday to everyone!

This morning was another relatively slow one. Actually, it wasn't slow at all, but it was slow in terms of Disney trip content. We actually were up early, but then spent a couple hours taking our daughter's cat to the vet. She was quite overdue for a checkup and some shots, so we didn't want to wait until she was back home again to get it done. So, here's a little hello from our daughter's cat!

Stuff taken care of, we headed to Hollywood Studios for a morning visit. For the first time on this trip, lines were pretty long - Runaway Railway, Tower, Rockin', Rise, and Slinky all showing either right at an hour or over. Seems odd that the holiday weekend ends and the lines go up (maybe Disney rigging the system to get us to buy Genie+??) but we didn't have any big important targets for the morning, so it wasn't an issue. Got in just in time for a little fun with the Historians of Arendelle.

And then Elsa did her thing.

Despite the snow, it was still quite hot outside and lines were still longer than we wanted to deal with, so to Baseline Taphouse we went!
IMG_4311.JPG

Then we decided to actually have a meal and headed back into Batuu (I've been wanting to have a meal at Docking Bay 7 since the menu updated). Along the way, we ran into a fellow and his little kid and they were asking for some help with finding some people.
IMG_3213.JPG

Seemed like a nice enough fellow and the kid was super cute.
IMG_3224.JPG

But darn if we couldn't get him to look right at the camera for a picture!!

Figuring that was the best adventure we were going to get without waiting in line, we just headed to the Docking Bay for the felafels, yuca fries, and steak and sweet potato salad. Very good and interesting stuff!

After that, it was out of the park and back to our room for a little rest. We are about to head back out to Epcot for the evening and... sadly... our last park time for this trip as we hit the road late tomorrow morning. Not sure if I'll get updates done tonight or tomorrow before we head out, but I'll do my best to stay LIVE!

No pictures right now. It's late, we are super tired and totally soaked through and through, so just a quickie update.

After our rest, we headed up to the Gurgling Suitcase to catch up with some of our OKW friends as well as one of the bartenders who we have become good friends with. Always good to catch up with people!! We then headed to Epcot for a nice dinner at San Angel Inn in the Mexico pavilion (pictures will happen at some point, I promise) and a few attractions. Right as we got in, a few drops of rain were coming down.

Before our dinner, we rode Spaceship Earth and then 3 Caballeros and before we went in to eat, we checked the weather status and it was pouring. Crossing our fingers that it would be done after our dinner we enjoyed a great meal. We finished up just a couple minutes after 9pm and exited to pretty decent rain (not pouring, but enough to get you pretty soaked) and hearing the announcement that Luminous was going to be delayed 15 minutes. Tonight was evening extra hours, so we headed into Frozen and rode that somewhat quickly and then hoofed it around to France for a ride with Remy. All the while, dealing with some decent rainfall. Which, of course, meant that by the time we rode Remy we were drenched.

After Remy, we decided that it wasn't really worth hanging out any later since we had done all the attractions we wanted to and were tired and wet. Ended up exiting the park at about 10:30pm, just as our daughter was coming in from the parking lot, also totally drenched. And, now, it's time to get some sleep!!!

Have a safe trip today! Thanks for your amazing live TR. I hope you are returning soon!

Thanks! Not totally sure when our next visit might be. @MeffysMom will be back for her annual Labor Day weekend trip with friends, but I may not be back until next summer. There's a chance of a Christmas season trip, but it's a bit of a remote one. Also a chance of Princess Half Marathon weekend, which is a little more likely than Christmas, but not certain at all. Definitely a big trip next summer to celebrate our daughter's college graduation. We do have Disneyland Paris coming up in a little over a month, but not sure how much TR I'll be doing for that one - certainly not a live one.

Your daughter graduates next summer?? I feel like you just did her high school graduation trip report! 😱
I hope you’ll do a little recap of Paris! I am ready to go back and would love to see your pictures and read your thiughts!

Not quite time for our farewell breakfast, so I'm gonna get some pictures from yesterday evening shared with you!

Obligatory beverage shot from the Gurgling Suitcase (with the incomparable Lorna in the background).

From our ride on Spaceship Earth, pictures to represent our chosen fields...

And random minstrels for the music teacher:

And then, these three guys from El Rio De Tiempo

Dinner at the San Angel Inn was delicious and WAY too much food for the two of us. Had we been staying a few more days, I'm sure we would've had another meal worth of leftovers!

Cucumber and Wild One margaritas with the Queso Fundido.
IMG_3261.JPG

The Enchiladas con Pollo (doesn't look like much, but delicious and very filling).
IMG_3267.JPG

And Huarache Vegetariano (great touch of spice in the sauce).
IMG_3268.JPG

And, of course, artistic shot of the Wild One in the beautiful setting that is San Angel Inn (huge props to @MeffysMom for all the food pictures throughout this trip report).

For our post-dinner rides, I could simply have gotten some pictures of our totally soaked clothes or us looking bedraggled, but instead here's some VERY random shots from the queues for Frozen and Remy.

It's about time now for us to pack up the car and head to Whispering Canyon for some good food before we say farewell to the World and hit the road.

She finishes her four year program next summer (with two degrees!!!) and might stay for a fifth year to get a third degree, but is looking more toward an internship or other options right now when she gets done. Time certainly flies.

But wait... there's more!! Certainly no longer live, but we've got a last morning breakfast and then drive home adventures.

Got the car all packed up and ready to go and headed to Whispering Canyon at Wilderness Lodge for some breakfast. Upon arrival, there was a bit of a character party going on in the lobby. We steered somewhat clear of the action, but did get a little hello from Pluto as we waited for our table.

I wish I had some food pictures, because I think we are starting to rate the breakfast at Whispering Canyon right up there with Akershus. In fact, dare I say it, it might even be a little better. Granted, the cheesy potatoes at Akershus are a big highlight (and the Lingonberry Jam is delightful as well), but the option of choosing three different AYCE skillets OR selecting from a more standard breakfast menu is just wonderful. And, I suspect that the smaller restaurant with not quite the same turnover rate helps with the quality of the food that you get.

After breakfast, it was time to begin the 14+ hours on the road north to home. Sadly, the drive home was not so easy as the drive down, with 3 different construction zones that had I95 down to 1 lane going northbound. But, we still made it in under 15 hours, which is kind of a barometer for us.

Speaking of things upon which to measure your quality of life... we stopped not once, but twice at Buc-ee's on the ride home. First at the one in St. Augustine.
IMG_3274.JPG

Obviously, it's funny for some and truly disturbing for others.

And then at the one in Florence, SC.

And, while it is a bit of an alarming place, they definitely do have the nicest bathrooms and cheapest gas. Both places were at least 10 cents cheaper than anything around. (insert shameless plug for our hybrid Honda Accord - when you get over 40mpg at speeds consistently between 70 and 80mph, life is good)

We got home a bit after 1am and spent Wednesday in a complete daze. I had some work to get done and managed to put it all off until Thursday. Did manage to stay awake to watch the England-Netherlands game in the afternoon, but not much else happened. And, now, it's Friday and we are somewhat caught up to something resembling our normal summer lives.

Would it make me a bad "invisible internet friend" (that's what my husband calls all y'all, BTW) if I said thank you for that decision?

Pluto is always the best character interaction. Always. IMO, of course.

And taking my screen name and profile.pic into account, that's sayin' sumpthin. 😸

What was your opinion of the outcome? ☺️

Yeah, we bailed on the selfie's once we were drenched!! When we left the park, our daughter was just finishing her shift and we crossed paths and she was similarly soaked. We asked why she didn't use the raincoats they have... she said she and her 'crew' just decided to get soaked!!

Pluto (or Goofy, as the one kid at Chef Mickey's yelled) tends to be quite a bit of fun. We've had some pretty awesome character interactions across the board over the years. We always like the surprises - like Mickey taking a load off and sitting with us for a minute at our table on this trip.

Hmmm... well, I was rooting for England (which I generally do unless they are playing Scotland). Not sure they really deserved the win, but not sure that either team really deserved the win. It was good to see England play with a little more forward intent than they did in the group stages, but they still lack much creativity. Meanwhile, Netherlands did much more on the creative side, but didn't quite have the skills to get the job done. I do love Kane, but he needs to realize that in this team he should be playing like Olivier Giroud does and stay up top and wait to cherry pick goals. And I really want to like Bellingham because he is SO talented, but I feel like he often plays a bit lazy - maybe not to the point of taking plays off, but close to it. And I was pretty upset when they took of Trippier and I feel like they lost a lot of forward intent without him on the wing. Too much?? I could go on for hours... Looking forward to the final, but not feeling great about England's chances or the chances of an exciting game.
