Babysitting Services

Can you guys give me some more info on the babysitting service in the resorts? Is there an age limit to how old a kid can be for babysitting? It's looking like my hubby and I will be going alone with our kids, and we'd like to be able to go out just 1 night by ourselves. Our girls will be 9 and 4 at the time we go, and my mom mentioned that my oldest may be too old for babysitting or daycare. :(

I'd be interested to see what people say about this topic as well. We are going to the World in less than 3 weeks and have booked a sitter for 2 nights so DH and I can go out by ourselves. We have 14 month old twins and the only babysitters we have ever used have been family. I'm trying to figure out if we should ask for 2 sitters since they'll have our girls at dinner and bedtime. It can be quite a task to keep up w/ them now that they are both walking! BTW, we are using Kids Nite Out. The reviews I have read have been really good. Fingers crossed it works out for us.

we have used the "kids nite out" service twice now. you can choose the general description/type of babysitter/companion you would like to care for your children.
if i had a nine year old whom you seem to think will object to a "babysitter", i would request one of the younger/cooler folks and give them permission to take your child down to the arcade. bet that makes her happy.
as far as how good they are, i certainly feel safe with them. my daughter who was leaving her 9 month old with a babysitter for the first time in her life agreed to do it based on her opinion "if there's anyplace that's going to make sure their babysitters are good, it's disney."
the first time we used the service, we swore Mary Poppins arrived in our room. she opened her little bag and out came a slew of interesting toys and books. she just kept taking out more and more stuff, till we asked her if the floor lamp and umbrella came next!!!!
the second time we used them was last month, by now my daughter had a 3 month old and 2 year old. this one was not as good. she certainly was adequate, we felt safe leaving the kids with her, but Mary Poppins she was not. we told her that the 2 year old is rarely allowed to see tv, so if she turned on the tv, he would be entranced, and should be entertained for a good length of time. we then went into the dressing area to finish up, came back out and she had BASKETBALL on the TV. we explained to her that we sort of meant a DISNEY CARTOON, you know, mickey mouse clubhouse, little einsteins, something visually appealing to a 2 year old.
i relate this story to say........i guess it's hit or miss, some are Mary Poppins and some ain't!
but no matter what, i would feel safe and i am sure a young/cool "companion" would be satisfactory to your 9 year old
go out and enjoy yourself

We too have used Kids Nite out, in the past two trips for our now 2 year old. Both times we had pleasant experiences. I would recommend them to anyone. Both times we had two young ladies, who we felt comfortable leaving with. While they didn't have a Mary Poppins bag-lil man was also a year at this point- they did have plenty of age appropriate goodies.

However I will give you a warning, since your girl is 9, they can not do anything around water so they can't bring them to a pool. I am not sure if this would upset you or not but its just something to keep in mind. They are however allowed to bring them around the resort, feed them. Etc.

I again recommend this, and would say its a great service to anyone looking for some special alone time...

Wow, I didn't even know this existed! I thought when the hotels said they had babysitting service, it was kinda like you took them to an in-house daycare center or something. Well that is awesome! :D
Do you have to book this ahead, or can you get it when you get to the hotel?
How much does it cost?

You need to book ahead w/ Kids Nite Out. Here's a link to their website. Very nice and very helpful. I feel less stressed about leaving my girls w/ a total stranger after talking with them on the phone.

THANK you all so much for the info! This will be so helpful when we go... Hubby and I hardly ever get to go on date nights, and since he'll just be coming home from deployment, we'll need some. ;)

As a military wife and mom, I totally understand!!! We NEVER get to go out for date nights unless we make a weekend trip to my MIL's house, which is about 2 hours away. Even then, I usually end up so tired by the time my twins go to bed that I suggest ordering chinese take out!! I can't wait for a fun night out w/ DH! We're going to O'hana (his favorite) followed up by the MK so we can ride all the big kid rides that we can't do w/ our girls! I can hardly wait@

I totally feel your pain. About the only time we get date nights is when we go home and my sister watches our girls for us. :\
That sounds like an awesome date night! :) Enjoy your time out together!!

We've used Kids Nite Out quite a bit and have had good experiences. We also use the childcare centers. I like those, but if you have younger kids or you have more than two, it can be easier and less expensive to use an in room sitter like Kids Nite Out.

The second thing my kid asked when I told him we were going to Star Wars Weekend was if he could go to the Neverland Club at the Poly; he really enjoys it.
