Baby It's Cold Outside - a 1/2-1/9 trip report

Welcome all to my trip report! This trip included a large cast and even a few first-timers. The cast includes: myself, my fiance, Jordan, Disneybird (my mother), my dad, Larry, my sister, Amanda, my brother-in-law, John, my nephew, Victor, my grandmother, 'Mamaw', my uncle, Norman, my aunt, Pam, my cousin, Jennifer, and her boyfriend, Jamie. Yeah, a lot of people. This was the first trip for Jordan, Victor, and Jamie. We started planning this trip a year ago after our first trip to Disneyland. So, we spent the past year brainwashing Victor and annoying Jordan with our incessant talk of all things WDW.

My trip actually started a few days earlier on 12/28 when I flew from Nashville to Baltimore to spend New Year's with Jordan's family. Jordan spent Christmas there with his family and this would be the last time that I would see my future in-laws before our wedding. Before he left we purchased a new camera, a Canon SX200 IS. He took the camera with him, and I kept the camera book with me to study up on our new camera. I was so excited to get to try out the functions on our trip. While we were in Maryland we stopped in H&M to do some shopping. I absolutely love H&M, and the closest one to me is 2.5 hours away. I made an incredibly smart purchase in buying 2 pairs of gloves for $4 (gotta love H&M) conisdering that freezing temperatures awaited us in Florida.

We left Baltimore on New Year's and breezed through security. I was so surprised at how quickly we got through. I expected tight security since it was New Year's and we would fly close to D.C. However, we were met with no lines and no problems, even though Jordan was tested for explosives after he accidentally left a Gatorade bottle in his backpack. We flew Southwest and found out that our flight had 75 empty seats on it. It was a nice and quiet 2 hour flight.

We landed in Orlando around 9:00 P.M. and went down to baggage claim. We had Magical Express reservations and got lost from baggage claim to ME. After we found ME, we checked in and got in line for Pop Century. Our bus ride was uneventful, and I couldn't see any excitement building on Jordan's face. It was for me, though. My parents met us at the ME drop off for Pop. Our room was in the 50's. Jordan and I headed down to the food court for a snack. I got a piece of the tye-dye cheesecake. It was wonderful! I was afraid of how the cheesecake red velvet combination would taste, but the red velvet had just enough of a subtle flavor against the cheesecake. We headed to bed after our snacks. The next morning we had to wake up really early. Jordan and I planned on going to Universal for the day. My dad was going to drop us off on his way to play poker in Tampa. He informed us that we would be leaving at 6:45. yay...

So, after this long introduction on with the trip and pictures!

1/6 Liberty Tree Tavern and Magic Kingdom

We woke up super early this morning because we had breakfast reservations at Liberty Tree Tavern for 8:15. I was so excited to get into the parks early. I don't think I've ever been in the Magic Kingdom early before. Jordan and I were late getting to the monorail (again), so we caught the next one to meet up with our family. They were just getting through the turnstiles when we walked up. We went through the turnstile for people with breakfast reservations and just said that we have reservations at LTT. They never questioned us or asked for a reservation number. I was really surprised at how easy it was, especially considering that we were only asked where we were going one other time after that. Everyone must be on the honor system because it would be really easy just to walk on through. Now I'm sure we would have been questioned more had we wondered around to different areas of the park, but we did take our time on the way to get some pictures.

Wow! Your animal pictures are incredible! I love that one of the gorilla looking right at the camera. And I'm so jealous you got to actually see the lion and cheetahs do something besides lay there!

What kind of camera do you use?

He loved that mug.

So, finally we made it in for breakfast.

We sat down and very quickly, Chip, Dale, Pluto & Minnie came by. Well, Victor was having none of it that morning. He was tired, and he did not want to see anyone until he ate breakfast. After he ate he was all about seeing the characters.

Breakfast was good, even though I'm not a big breakfast eater. They had some sort of peach souflee dish that was really good.

Throughout all of the planning of our trip Jordan only mentioned one character that he wanted to meet: Belle. That's right. So, after breakfast I told him that we should probably head over to see the princesses before lines started to form. We arrived at Toontown only to find out that it opens at 10. So, we had about 30 minutes to kill, and we went on Space Mountain to pass the time.

IMG_0720.jpg

After we rode SM, it was time to go meet some princesses. The wait time for the princesses and the fairies both said 15 minutes. There was a line for the fairies, but we walked right up to the rope for the princesses and someone came right out to get us. This was the first time that I've ever gone to meet the princesses.

Up first was Aurora.

IMG_0725.jpg

When we left to go see Cinderella I said, "Thank you, princess" to Aurora. I still get teased about that.

IMG_0726.jpg

When we got in line for Belle, Jordan leaned over and asked if he could get a picture with just the two of them. I laughed and agreed.

Look at that big smile!

I wanted to go see Mickey and Minnie's houses one last time, so that is where we headed next.

When we passed by the kitchen Jordan stopped and did a double take. He said that it looked like someone had been massacred in there, but it was just paint obviously.

Of course we had to go see Mickey while we were there.

I couldn't leave without giving them each a big hug. These two pretty much sum up my childhood.

From there we went to TTA. The voice of the narrator wasn't nearly as bad as I was expecting, but I didn't like what seemed like non-stop narration.

We saw Push (is that its name?) interacting with some guests.

IMG_0776.jpg

We went to Stitch's Great Escape next, and then I told Jordan about how great it used to be.

poor Scruffy.

Afterwards, we went to Laugh Floor. I was very skeptical about this attraction the first time I saw it, but I really do enjoy it. If you've never done it, try it. It's actually a lot of fun.

IMG_0782.jpg

Jordan ended up loving it too.

We went back for another ride on SM to finish up Tomorrowland. By this point we basically just posed for the on-ride picture since it is in such a bad place. This was one of my favorites from the day.

IMG_0785.jpg

I think today was the first and one of the only times that we were able to walk through the castle. Most of the time it was blocked off for the show in the front. Every time we got anywhere near the castle Jordan asked if we could walk through it. I loved it. He was a kid all over again. That's Disney for ya.

Thank you! I don't know if I was more excited to see the lion or cheetahs up and about, but we felt so lucky to see either or them not to mention both!

We purchased a Canon PowerShot SX200 IS right before our trip, and we love it!

Aww what a perfect picture!! That needs to be framed and hung on the wall :D

Thank you! I'm sure he's going to really appreciate it when I start printing these out to put all over the place we move in to.

The pictures of you two by the castle are beautiful!

And that Belle is perfect, gorgeous.

Thank you so much! She was a really pretty Belle. I would say that she was definitely most like her character and the most interactive of the three.

We walked through Fantasyland and headed to Liberty Square to go on Haunted Mansion.

IMG_0790.jpg

I made Jordan go see the Country Bear Jamboree with me. The parks honestly were not crowded, but for some reason it was packed it there.

I don't think Jordan walked away from there sharing my feelings for the bears, but it was worth a shot.

Big Thunder had a wait time posted of 50 minutes, which I'm sure was due to Splash being down. The fastpass was only for about an hour later though, so we grabbed a fp and headed to Adventureland for Pirates and Jungle Cruise.

Jordan told me that Pirates wasn't what he expected. I asked him what he was expecting, and well he didn't know.

IMG_0819.jpg

This picture makes me laugh. It's hard to tell but Jordan and I have the Greek word for grace tattooed on our wrists. He is going into ministry, and one time this girl said, "I don't know why he is going to be a minister when he has the word 'exotic' tattooed on his wrist." So, we always get a good laugh over that.

We had an awesome skipper on the JC. He was an older guy with a very dry sense of humor, so he was right up our alley.

Also, our skipper asked a younger girl in the front if she would guide us through the tunnel. I've never seen that happen before, but I was really jealous.

It was almost time to return to BTMR for our fps, but we were hungry. We stopped at Pecos Bill's again. I ordered the pulled pork sandwich. It was delicious. I think Jordan ordered a salad because he had two bowls of eggs at breakfast. Then, we were off to BTMR.

IMG_0836.jpg

Jordan was getting a sinus headache by that point. We decided to go back to the room so he could take a nap because I was bound and determined to go back to MK that night to see the castle lit up.

:sohappy: Lovin the TR!! And I will echo everyone's envy about the animals. Your pics are incredible!! Whenever I went on the KS, they had no interest in being photographed and insisted on hiding from my camera. You have some fantastic shots of them. Especially the gorillas - love them!

That's hilarious that Jordan wanted his pic alone with Belle! You guys are adorable together!

you also caught how they control push in this pic ;)

As soon as I saw push I started looking for him. We actually saw push twice this trip, which was nice because I've never seen it.

Thank you! It was really neat seeing the gorillas running to get to their spots and chow down.

He also wanted to go to story time with Belle on our last day, but it was cancelled due to the weather.

Awesome report and gorgeous photos... but I MUST ask... HOW do you keep your skin sooooo perfect!?

 I will say it is largely due to embracing my fair skin, good genetics, and mineral make-up.

After a two hour break at the Poly, Jordan and I went back to the MK. We didn't really plan on spending a lot of time here, but I really wanted to see the castle at night.

We headed to BTMR to use some fps that a couple gave us earlier. Then, we headed back to Tomorrowland to ride SM, of course, and Astro Orbiter. Astro Orbiter only had a 10 minute wait. The place really slowed down as the week went on.

I let Jordan control the rocket. We went up and down and up and down and up and down. It was really funny. I love this ride at night, the whole park was beautiful from up there.

As soon as we exited Astro Orbiter, Wishes started. We debated on staying to watch, but we were ready for dinner and wanted to beat the crowds. So, we headed to the Resort Monorail line and stopped on the entrance ramp to watch the rest of the fireworks. I looked behind us and a boat just pulled up into the dock, and in front of us a swarm of people were headed our way. We decided to brave the cold and take a boat instead of being stuck in a crowded monorail. It was a nice, but cold, ride back, and we were able to watch the rest of the fireworks from the boat. So, that was our third time watching Wishes for the trip, which was something that I have never done before.

Originally we had ADRs that night for Chef Mickey's. My parents took Victor there Sunday night and said that they were not very impressed with the food. Plus, Victor was more interested in the monorail than in the characters. So, Jordan and I ordered two flatbreads from Captain Cook's and had dinner in the room that night.
