I agree. Even in an all you can eat environment they should allow you to take home your first portion. We're you charged for her food?!?

We had free dining. But yes we were charged a credit for her. I know I should have spoke to a manager, but like I said we were just so ready to get out of there (especially with a sleeping child)

Very sorry to hear about your experience at our favorite WDW restaurant. Having been there as many times as we have, we've come to expect a certain amount of chaos at 'Ohana. Between the amount of people just waiting to be seated, kids chucking coconuts while a ukulele playing woman leads them around the room to skewers of meat dashing here and there, the place is hoppin! While we've never had a rude server, we have had frazzled ones. I love the food so much that I think I would probably put up with Don Rickles as my server. I agree that the server not only should have been more attentive to you and your family, they should have offered to put together a to-go dinner for your daughter (including dessert) at no cost for their mistake. I hope you will give this restaurant another chance in the future.

This thread runs the risk of painting an inaccurate description of Ohana. In the words of Yogi Berra, "Nobody goes there, it's too crowded." :p

No doubt there are bad experiences but the place is not awful. If it had gotten so bad, their business would fall off

I should have titled it something else. I do understand that there are off nights. I just wanted to share with you guys, because I knew you would understand. I didn't mean to imply that 'Ohana is awful, just that my experience was.

It happens. We like it, we hate it. It always comes down to service. make me feel good and I'm happy, can't get a beer, elf you. Food quality is what it is, but it' the service and show in WDW. Unless it's signature, where it all counts. But really, chicken nuggets? Serve them now, as WDW runs basically on adults TAKING kids!

I have not had a bad experiece at 'Ohana, but the food is not my favorite. We tried it again this past October, and DH and I agreed that we much prefer Kona.

We have had generally good experiences with 'Ohana but a bad one last April nearly had us write it off the list. Perhaps it happens more with later reservations, ours was for 8:05. We were seated and rushed through our entire meal. Bread, salad, wings and pot stickers rained on us in rapid order without time to enjoy any of them. Our waitress rushed the skewers over and started dropping chunks of meat on our plates without even asking, which upset my wife who does not eat red meat or pork. Moments after the finishing one round of skewers she was there with desert and the check. We were out of there in 35 mins and did not enjoy any of it, the food that time was not even that good.

Fortunately, I was able to go back recently while on a work trip. My co-worker had always wanted to eat there so I got us a 6:30 ressie by pure luck 2 days out and it was a fantastic meal, back up to what I remembered. Well paced, twice round with the skewers, etc. We'll be back in Feb with some friends for an early ressie so we'll see how it is then.

My only issue, out side the occasional bad service with 'Ohana, is that it is way too much food for 2 people. With my wife and I we will only eat maybe 3 potstickers and chicken wings, a small amount of salad and maybe some noodles before the skewers come . I wonder if you could just request 3 or 4 wings/potstickers and a small salad and noodles. That would be Way less wasteful . Our next trip will be with 6 folks so probably not an issue but if just the 2 of us go back, I'll ask for smaller portions and see what they say.

Ohana is one of my faves, but we had a bad experience there last time. One of my boys (5 years old) was sound asleep though the whole meal. Didn't eat a bite. My other 5 year old just had Mac n Cheese. We were charged for 2 full course kids meals. I complained nicely, and they took one of the meals off, but still charged us full price for my son who only had Mac n Cheese.

This is an interesting problem with many Disney restaurants. They're gonna charge you full price at Ohana and character meals because of their popularity and the "experience", regardless of what they eat or don't eat. This makes sense to an extent, but also makes no sense. It's Disney World. There are always going to be little kids in most parties and many of them aren't going to eat much, or anything at all. Disney needs to realize and accept this and not rip people off. They don't care for the same reason they don't care about anything - People will still go. Plus, when people are on vacation, they tend to not worry as much about the money they're spending. If a restaurant at home ever tried pulling that crap, no way would they get away with it. Disney, in my opinion, is very shady when it comes to the prices they charge and the policies for children.

Since we stayed at the POLY last visit we had late ressies here one night. We had no idea it was served like a brazillian steakhouse and we loved it..BUT..the wait even with reservations was about 15 minutes, the server had to be told twice to bring kid food for the grandkids who just weren't interested in the delicious food we were being served. We loved the food. The entertainment was annoying but the grandkids enjoyed it.. for the food alone we will eat here again.. but the service is kind of hit or miss I think.

Good food and fun times, service sucks. For kids underb10, under interesting unfortunately. Let go of burgers, fries, and nuggets.
