Totally agree with you! Idk how they did it, but disney totally won with Dinosaurs. However it is sad that they feel it's not okay to work on attractions due to the lack of attractions. Hopefully once Pandora is in place and there's a nighttime safari, they will work on fixing the Yeti and then give Dinosaur some much needed love!!!
Except the yeti is near impossible to fix...

Was the original version of this scarier/more thrilling than the current version? I had heard that at one part of the ride, they used to play sounds that made is seem as if the carnotaurus was right behind you, chasing your time rover.

well from how i understand it, (correct me if im wrong) The yeti, the coaster, and the mountain are three separate structures. Each with their own foundation and support systems, and none of them can touch. so i believe the yetis problem was structural. they need to fix the rig he sits on. Which to d o that they would have to spend alot of time and money to get it working. Time and money they cant afford to loose, with it being such a popular attraction.

Martin has also said in the past that they can make repairs to the yeti without even closing the ride down for refurb, by simply removing the figure overnight. The ride doesn't even need to close to do it. Though I definitely argue that it shouldn't even be allowed to operate at all without the star of the show functioning, as has been the case for most of the ride's existence now sadly.

Though at this point a decently lengthy refurbishment would also be welcome alongside fixing the yeti, even though the yeti can't wait that long as i'd imagine a refurb is still some time out. The mountain could use a good repainting by now given its age. Especially near the peak, the fake snow is looking pretty dirty now. And while this is a third shift responsibility that should be tackled overnight instead of being left unaddressed, an unfortunate female guest habit as of late has been to litter the peak with headbands, tacky... There was also fog originally at the peak and in the tunnels, no longer functioning for some reason that should be re-enabled. And while I do not expect any plussing to be done anytime soon, if a refurb required substantial time then i'd like to see the backwards tunnel enclosed properly so that you can't see the inner steel structure of the mountain frame (along with all the outside light spilling inside which makes it even worse). A themed icy cavern with crystal lighting and prism effects would make that scene a lot better and more striking.

i hope hes right...
He is, he's well respected on this site for very good reason. That does not mean the yeti will be fixed though, I even daresay there's not really any substantial hope in the near future. Disney shies away from spending even insignificant amounts of money to maintain a decent guest experience, they're certainly going to be very reluctant to do anything about this more costly mess they created.
