I’ll say this: the “multiverse” is a good idea if it leads to “Captain America: Pay the Man” in 5 years..
Black Widow and Captain America wouldn’t leave the timelines they live in just because they died in another. They would stay and protect their timeline.I'm not convinced they need a multi-verse concept in the movies, but we'll see where it goes.
It can work in some cases if they want a fresh start. DC Comics has "reset" their story-lines a few times this way. The new Star Trek movies used it effectively, allowing them go back to the original series time-frame while still telling new stories.
Do they really need it in the movies? Will it just be confusing? Does it make it too easy to bring back characters at will? Want to bring back Black Widow or Captain America? No problem, just pluck their younger selves from an alternate timeline.

No, you just took them out of their reality.Except, timelines can't be modified by time travel. If I choose another timeline where one is alive, go back in time and pluck them out, that timeline is unchanged and they're still alive.
Or something. I feel like trying to make logic out of any of this is going down a rabbit hole with no exit.
Fandango: Let's get to the most important question: Does Far From Home introduce the Multiverse to the MCU?
Jon Watts: Well, I mean, yeah. We had to look at it in terms of the scope of what happened at the end of Endgame. Seeing all the crazy things that they did and all the questions that raises. So we're definitely trying to answer one of the big ones -- alternate timelines. So many possibilities opened up at the end of Endgame, and Peter Parker is one of the few people on the ground dealing with them.
Fandango: Are you able to explain the rules of this multiverse in terms of how it differs from the Spider-Verse that we were introduced to inInto The Spider-Verse?
Jon Watts: I wouldn't dare! I'll let Nick Fury do that.
1st hour was so boring. It dragged on too far with the exposition and unnecessary low brow humor that no one in my theatre even laughed at such as the fortnight online gamer scene. The second hour gets really fun once they add the time travel element but that same element became totally confusing because they are changing the past and meeting themselves with no effect on the future. (though how does that work with 2 Cap Americas). Secondly if all the stones get reset, Black Widow should've returned. You had a end battle where none of the good guys were actually killed in battle yet the iron man sacrifices himself.
Thanos became a super generic villain vs his amazing portrayal in Infinity War. It was just meh.
The dude just lead the team that reversed the worst tragedy to ever happen and restored life to 1/2 of the universe. I think if he wants to retire, good for him.Wow- I could not agree with you more. I wanted to love it after watching most of the movies leading up to it, but unlike Infinity War Part One, I found it very underwhelming. Boring first hour, frantic pace at the end. And how is Cap going to sit this one out and just choose a life for himself when he has the power to protect others? M'kay....
Oh, I'm the same for sure. The second you really analyze time travel in any movie the whole thing unravels. It's a plot device, overthinking it is pointless.
I think they did a good job putting the stones in the back of every viewers mind. They are mentioned in guardians, ultron, dr strange, ragnarok, dark world then recaped in infinity war off the top of my head. I think they wanted Thanos and the stones to be something you recognized might be important but not dominate the individual narrative of each movie. Personally I think it was done perfect. It let each movie be its own thing while stringing you along for something bigger to come. This brings up the interesting question, of how interconnected should these movies be?
For me, I wanted a bit more of it leading up to Infinity War. Maybe someone will point out what I missed, but I never got the feeling that the encounter with Thanos and the threat of the infinity stones was something that was sufficiently developed, expected, or meaningful.
Thanos made brief end-credit appearances in a few movies, including wearing the glove in Age of Ultron. GOTG showed us the destructive power of the stones, briefly. Where was it established that Thanos was an inevitable threat, and that the stones were his ultimate goal? I just didn't see it. When Banner warns, "Thanos is coming", why was this seen as a big deal?
Infinity War was fun because of all these established characters interacting with each other, but I didn't find the previous films did much in terms of making the overall plot meaningful.
So, anyway, Marvel has proposed a deal with Sony. These are the terms of it:
- Marvel Studios will get full creative control over live-action characters like Spider-Man, Venom, Black Cat, etc., but Sony will still have distribution rights and gain most of the profit.
- Morbius' status is up in the air, but Venom 2, Kraven and all the other "spinoffs" will be cancelled for sure. Marvel will reboot Venom, but they will use Tom Hardy in the MCU in a different role, due to the fact that he is still signed on for at least two more movies. (Perhaps Wolverine? The Thing?)
- Some of the projects could be adapted into Disney+ series/miniseries.
- Marvel is considering reviving the "Silver and Black" project, and also plans to use Jessica Drew/Spider-Woman in a movie or Disney+ miniseries.
- Sony will keep the animation rights, because Marvel feels like they should remain as they are.
- Kraven the Hunter will debut in Spider-Man 3, as a Sinister Six member.
- Venom could be the main antagonist of Spider-Man 4, which may also introduce Miles Morales.
- Marvel still wants to make a Sinister Six spinoff movie, which could function as a "redemption story" for the group. The movie may take place in The Savage Land (which is what Sony's original plan was before Spider-Man joined the MCU) and The Lizard may be the main antagonist. Drew Goddard is almost certainly going to direct, because he loves the idea.
- There is already a possible actor Marvel is eyeing for the role of Eddie Brock/Venom in the MCU: Dacre Montgomery, AKA The Red Ranger and Billy Hargrove from Stranger Things.
- Speaking of Stranger Things, Caleb McLaughlin (who played Lucas) is an early frontrunner for the role of Miles Morales.
- There are plans for a crossover movie that could feature Spider-Man teaming up with Venom, Miles, Black Cat, Spider-Woman and other heroes (and possibly villains/antiheroes) from Spider-Man's universe. There are several key comic storylines the movie could adapt, but the most likely story is Maximum Carnage.
- Don't expect to see Nightwatch, Jackpot or Silk anytime soon, if ever.
Now, even if this is true (and I'm not sure it is) it all depends on whether or not Sony agrees to this deal. And, being the idiots they are, they probably won't.

no, not yet. I'm guessing we'll find out in guardians 3Just saw my 2nd showing. Do we know where Gamora went?
Here's a funky question: when will there be a Far from Home thread, and will we have to label it SPOILERS right off the bat thanks to its second trailer?
Maybe make a far from home spoiler thread. If you don't read the comics it is quite easy to have big things spoiled. It's been around for several months. Idk what to do regarding spoilers though.Spiderman (2): Far From Home
