In case you can't see it. That's blue/green camo.

But they would have to add more rock work to Cars Land to hide the view of the coaster right?
Not if they paint it blue or green.
No not necessarily they just need a large facade over the show building

Remember when Disney actually gave a damn about sightlines?

Or, at the very least, remain consistent with it?

Classic examples are of course are the berm that surrounds the park or the Mardi Gras Landing scene on the Disneyland Railroad to cover backstage of New Orleans Square.

Another, one that is not so commonly noticed, are props such as the ship sails above the roof tops of New Orleans Square that not just cover spot lights used for private parties but are used to add depth; to give one the impression the Land is an actual living and working port city.

And one that doesn't dare draw attention to itself but stands with conviction still is the themed façades stacked upon one another. The top half of the west face of Star Tours has a Main Street façade so the building won't distract from the Victorian ambiance of the Plaza Inn.

Think about these details, and think about what one of these can do to enhance the show that the setting already creates.

Environmental Design has always been an integral part of a Disney park. Every effort was made to make sure that as few elements as possible break the illusion of a themed environment. It's disappointing that Disney doesn't hold itself to the level of scrutiny it once did. And if it does, it picks and chooses when to do so.

I mean, sure, that's nice and all, but why would you want intricate theming when you could have this?

80 years of Super Heroes at Disney California Adventure Park

Here are eight action-packed ways to celebrate with Super Heroes at Disney California Adventure park this month:

1. Join Rocket on a mission – Hop aboard the Collector’s gantry lift on Guardians of the Galaxy – Mission: BREAKOUT! You’ll help rescue Rocket’s fellow Guardians all while jamming out to Star-Lord’s classic mixtapes. It’ll drop kick you out of this universe!
AP Bonus: Annual Passholders can enjoy an extra hour at Guardians of the Galaxy – Mission: BREAKOUT! after park closing, beginning Aug. 25 to Aug. 31. Plus, take home a special lithograph! One per passholder while supplies last. Blockout dates apply.

2. Power-up your plate – All that heroism making you hungry? To quench your thirst, Fanta Orange Freeze with Blue Cream is returning to the Studio Catering Co. And keep your eyes peeled for an exciting way to experience everything this truck has to offer! Or sip on the Be Brave, Be Blue cocktail, with Vodka* and Blue Raspberry Lemonade at Hollywood Lounge. While at the Lounge, pick up fresh-baked sourdough Groot-shaped bread! At Award Wieners, indulge in Super Hero-inspired, cinnamon-sugar dusted Funnel Cake Fries with Maple Glaze, Crumbled Bacon and Chocolate Cookie Crumbles. These specialty items will be available August 23 through Sept. 2.

3. Encounter Super Heroes – Experience a heroic encounter with legendary Super Heroes like Captain Marvel, Black Panther, Captain America and Spider-Man in Hollywood Land throughout the day. You also may run into Star-Lord and Gamora on their way to the Milano for the Guardians of the Galaxy: Awesome Dance Off! You’ll be grooving to the music during this awesome rock ‘n’ roll bash!

4. Grab a piece of the action – To rock some Super Hero style, head to The Collector’s Warehousestarting Aug. 9 for commemorative tees and headwear, as well as other Super Hero-themed merchandise.

5. Suit up and smile – Mickey Mouse and pals are also getting into the action! Starting Aug. 9 to Sept. 2, be on the lookout for some favorite Disney characters cosplaying as Super Heroes. Be sure to sport your Super Hero-best** for the day!

6. Put your fearless “face” forward – Stop by one of the face painting stations for a courageous make-over. Guests of all ages can select from a variety of different fierce designs. Will you go “Power Green” for the Hulk? Or will “Spidey Red” bring out the Spider-Man in you?

7. Strike an epic pose – Step (quite literally) into an “Avengers Assemble!” comic book and flex those smiles. In this oversized photo backdrop, you’ll be one of the Super Heroes! This epic photo location will be available Aug. 9 through Sept. 2.

8. Activate your inner artist – Receive step-by-step instructions from a Disney artist on how to draw Super Heroes! Drawing classes will take place at Animation Academy during select times on Aug. 10, 17, 24, 20, 31 and Sept. 1. To add to the fun, you can take home your sketch as a souvenir!

If you happen to be visiting Disney California Adventure park for the actual 80th anniversary on Aug. 31, guests will be treated to a commemorative button upon entry into the theme park, while supplies last.

Off topic, but does anybody know what the reasoning was for the dual chute configuration? I recall the boats just alternated between the two.

(I imagine it might have been unique to hold the first boat in order to have two drop at the same time, then managing the merge at the bottom. The fastest boat would get the other more wet. But as I recall, that was never the case.)
