I agree the 2.5 tech seems to make a ton of sense here. I would hope that some kind of thrill element would be added like a mild swing or drop at some point. It has to stand out a bit from other shooters in some way besides theme....

Well since it’s in the ITTBAB building I think it’ll be a flat... dark ride hybrid.

I just realized each guest could very well put those wrist things on. (If you really don't want it on, or have abnormally large wrists, a standard gun type shooter can be issued).

Then if every square inch of the sets are being projection mapped (like MMRR) then you could point anywhere, shoot, and get a web splattered in that spot. If this is what they're doing, it's quite different from TSMM.

It's more DTracy's Crime Stoppers.

Wow that was vague. These Marvel Land announcements started in 2015 (or 2017?) and continue to give us almost no info 4 years later.

Anyway it sounds like they re trying to raise the bar with what whatever the new tech is going to be. I’m encouraged hearing that their are going to be practical effects. I’m intrigued by what they do with this attraction. I’m hoping more TSMM 3.0 than just 2.0. Let’s just skip the 2.

Phase one of this new land will open at California Adventure sometime in 2020.

This sounds vague but interesting! I'm always excited when I hear new technology quoted. And this part especially sold me:

"Through a blend of never-before-seen technology and practical effects, guests will get to experience for themselves what it is like to have the abilities of a Super Hero."

That right there can mean anything but if they can create some type of swinging effect that would definitely be a big plus. I like the design of the Spider-Man too. And while I doubt it will happen. I love the idea of having an AA Spider-Man part of the ride, especially seeing how advance the new AAs are looking for Beauty and the Beast in TDL and of course the ones in GE. But a fully functional Spider-Man would be amazing (no pun intended ;)).

I'm keeping my hopes up we're going to at least get a solid attraction if its not mind blowing like what they are doing with the Star Wars rides.

Any chance phase 1 of this is open by early to mid 2020?

I expect like most DLR openings, it'll be in May/June 2020.

Now that most of SW:GE is completed, that team will move over to DCA and start Marvel, I mean SuperHero Land. So we should start seeing some real progress here in the next month or two.

Everyone keeps saying TSMM 2.0... But honestly it's Buzz 2.0.

(which is basically the Ant Man attraction)

New Recruits to ‘Suit Up’ Alongside Spider-Man with Cutting-Edge Tech from the New Worldwide Engineering Brigade at Disneyland Resort and Disneyland Paris
by Scot Drake, Creative Executive, Marvel Global Portfolio

The Avengers are setting up new Headquarters and training facilities around the globe to inspire all potential recruits willing to step up and become something more. As part of this global initiative, Tony Stark has founded the Worldwide Engineering Brigade — or WEB for short— to develop advancements in super-powered technology, including new enhancements to Spider-Man’s suit as their debut project. By bringing together the world’s brightest young inventors, the WEB is creating new interfaces that will empower all of us to join the ranks of Earth’s Mightiest.
* * *
As I shared with you just a few months ago, Walt Disney Imagineering’s Global Marvel Portfolio is working closely with our partners across Studios and Entertainment to create exciting experiences and attractions where you can join fan-favorite Super Heroes at Disneyland Resort and Disneyland Paris.

One of the best parts of my job is getting to collaborate with a diverse group of talented Imagineers, all pushing to bring this incredible universe to life, in a way that is authentic to this iconic brand. Developing new and innovative technologies, telling new stories and creating experiences that allow our guests to play an active role alongside these extraordinary characters is our core mission.

Today, I’m happy to be able to share more details on an immersive, interactive experience coming to Disney California Adventure park at Disneyland Resort and Walt Disney Studios park at Disneyland Paris.

Both parks will feature an exciting new attraction where guests of all ages can join the heroes in action. We are expanding our story universe by creating a new organization, the Worldwide Engineering Brigade, to be our setting for this experience. Though WEB is grounded in classic characters like Peter Parker, it is an organization that we can all be a part of – one that invites us to engage with these iconic heroes like never before.

Besides introducing WEB, we can’t wait to debut a brand-new, cutting-edge interface as part of this fun, interactive attraction. Through a blend of never-before-seen technology and practical effects, guests will get to experience for themselves what it is like to have the abilities of a Super Hero.

This adventure will blend seamlessly into the story of the new lands we’re creating at both Disney California Adventure park and Walt Disney Studios park, where there will be surprises at every turn!
Spider-Man’s suit

I’m personally most excited to see Spider-Man swinging through these lands in a new suit that you can see now at Walt Disney Studios Park, soon at Disney California Adventure park, and at other locations in the future. We were thrilled to partner with Ryan Meinerding, Head of Visual Development at Marvel Studios, to create this stunning new suit design.

And the feeling is mutual. According to Ryan, “It has been the highlight of my career to design all of Spider-Man’s suits for the most recent films. Bringing him to life through Tony Stark’s capable design aesthetic was a true joy, but working with the Walt Disney Imagineering team to develop a look for Spidey that reflects the innovation of a team of young geniuses really brings him to a new level. And knowing that park guests can get up close to that suit and really take in all the detail the astounding Imagineers packed into it means that we have truly brought a new version of the character to life.”

We are proud to be creating new homes for these characters – where guests can live their own adventures alongside fan-favorite Super Heroes.

Recruitment begins soon, so get ready to assemble and find your power!

I am disappointed that this ride is shared with Paris. More for Paris than Disneyland...

WDSP NEEDS originals.

I also want them to also get their act together and finalize the big E-ticket

Now this is just me assuming at the moment. But I would think the two experiences will be different enough to not be direct clones. Basically two Spidey attractions using the same ride system but with enough differences to make each experience unique.

Well it’s actually Buzz 2.0 / TSMM 2.0 or Antman/ Shanghai Buzz / TSMM 2.0

The 2.0 being (hopefully) better sets, better integrated screens, practical effects and an AA or 2. So I think I’m hoping for 3.0

On Rat Chat people are worried that this “attraction” isn’t a ride at all. And when you think about it, the description was vague to the point where it sounds like they re not sure what they want to do there. It’s like they re leaving it open to being some sort of interactive Marvel Innoventions and not necessarily a ride. That sounds a lot more doable for a 2020 opening than a ride does.

Anyway, what am I saying. It has to be a ride... right!?
