I haven't listened to the specific episode but I think Jim might be talking out his rear on this. The whole idea was that for Marvel WDI wasn't going to clone attractions. Re-use specific ride systems, sure. But full on clones, no. Also it wouldn't make sense to have two shooters in the same land, and three in the same park. So no I don't see Ant-Man coming to DCA.

Yeah I looked up his podcast and heard his infamous voice for the first time after @SuddenStorm shared the podcast name. I will say the show sounded more professional than any other Disney vlog or podcast I’ve seen/heard. But yeah, Antman? That would make no sense at DCA.

That would be nice.
Disney did say that this tech would be used for future attractions beside MMRR. So it would make sense for them to use it here too.

I mean I could see them using Ant-Man over Spider-Man at DCA, but that ship sailed. So we get Spider-Man and HKDL gets Ant-Man and never the two will meet in the same park.

I'm surprised they're not calling her "Captain Superhero" inside the parks
They can use it in this context because its the characters name. Its not specific marketing for the entire brand but rather a single character that just happens to share her name with the brand.

I'm still of the opinion that at some point these provisions in the contract about the usage of the "Marvel" name will go away. And if not they can always introduce the other characters that have donned the Capt Marvel masked, there have been 5. Not to mention Ms. Marvel who was the focus of the recent female centric Marvel Rising series.

Well, duh.

That joke went way over your head. Thought it was fairly obvious.

It didn't go over my head thank you very much. I got that you meant it as joke.

However for those in the back of the class that don't read all the pages, I wanted to make sure it was understood why they can still use her name.

Unless of course Antman takes over Buzz.

Well it'll be in the primary park then and not added as 3rd shooter in DCA. ;)

My point was that the two won't be in the same land in the same park.

Really I don't see them even bringing it over to replace Buzz. But who knows stranger things have happened. :)

Three shooters in the same park? Why, that would be as ridiculous as four flat spinners in the same park. Or four coasters. Or six book report dark rides. Or nine boat rides in the same park.

:p

I agree with the basic sentiment. I think we just haven’t seen what they re really capable of doing with the shooter rides. I believe part of the issue is because they re chosen as a cost effective attraction that will be popular regardless because of the interactive component.

There is a reason we haven’t seen an E ticket shooter. They re the high reward, low risk choices. They can cheap out on sets/ practical effects and the ride will still be popular. I don’t think anyone is complaining about the ride system being repetitive. It’s that we already assume what a shooter ride will be like based off the very reason they re chosen. In the case of Marvel Land it’s being chosen so they can save face and open the land with a new attraction.

I mean... the truth is we really don’t know what they have planned yet. If they can build a well themed shooter, hopefully with the upgrades from the Ant Man/Buzz in Shanghai... it could be a fantastic and fun ride.

I’m expecting TSMM 2.0 which I guess could be similar to Ant Man in Hong Kong. I’m sure it’ll be fun. Definitely think the Spider-Man IP deserves more though. Anyway, being that expansion room at DLR is at a premium, it would be nice if it was used for really unique experiences. This is not that... but I understand they have a business to run.

Why do you expect that? I was expecting more fully realized sets and scenes like the new Ant Man shooter or Buzz in a Shanghai. I think in fact Ant Man in Hong Kong will be our best indicator of what this ride will be like. Hoping for different vehicles though.

Wouldn’t that be what TSMM is? By 2.0 I didn’t mean better screens.
