Holy cow Taskmaster is going to be in the land! That's awesome! I wonder if Disney has plans to add future characters like the Fantastic Four and Shang Chi if their movies are successful.
... this campus operates in a alternate universe so anyone can reasonably show up...
I feel like building a pendulum ride inside an enclosed building is not ideal since they would have to build a building double the size of Guardians Cosmic Rewind to accommodate all the motions. If it's an outside rollercoaster mixed with dark ride elements then it would be more probable.I'm still disappointed that we didn't get that pendulum ride but considering AC was lacking a family ride it makes sense that Spidey gets it.
I just hope we get some cool physical sets to work with during the ride. Looks like we'll also get a cool animatronic during the pre-show.
Taskmaster, Squirrel Girl, Moon Lady. Sounds like it’s going to have oodles of general appeal.
When you ALSO include Iron Man, Black Panther, Black Widow, Spider-Man, Gamora, Thor, Captain America, Captain Marvel, Groot, Okoye, Doctor Strange and so on it will have w-i-d-e appeal.
That's a great idea because you have characters for both casual and hardcore fans. And of course the irony is a few years ago I doubt people could even name most of the people above, but every time a new movie or show comes out then they become instantly famous, like all those people will eventually. Come July everyone will know who Taskmaster is because he's the big villain in Black Widow and already insanely popular for comic book fans.
You realize not everyone will know who Taskmaster is though, right? Even if that movie is a smash success, the majority of people will still have no clue who that is or even care to know.
You can literally say that about EVERY Marvel character though, right? If you don't like comics or watch their movies, then yeah, you probably won't know any of them save for the most famous ones like Spider man. Didn't they give Captain Marvel an entire meet and greet section last year? How many knew her before her movie came out? Isn't that how its always been done?
As for Taskmaster, his movie comes out in May (maybe lol), AC doesn't open until July, so he will be WELL known by MCU fans by then and can promote the film even more.
You can say that about every Marvel character. I love thinking of all the grandmas who will excitedly point and tell their grandkids to look at Captain Iron Hulk!!! At least Grandma MIGHT get some part of their names correct. But she’ll have no hope with TaskMaster.
While that might be true, I think most Grandmas older than 60 wouldn't know most of modern Disney anyways. But yet they still enjoy the parks just the same. So its not about knowing the characters or not, its about enjoying the experience. One can enjoy the experience without actually knowing the reference the IP comes from. Hard concept to grasp I know, but it is possible and done on a daily basis at parks around the world (when they are not closed due to a worldwide virus). You can say that about every Marvel character. It’s not a hard concept to grasp at all. I just don’t agree that their enjoyment of the experience would be the same if they weren’t surrounded by things that literally made zero sense to them. And this isn’t just grandparents. Most adults and kids even aren’t so obsessed with Marvel that they know all the ins and outs of the franchise. Does that mean they sit in the corner, scowling, and have zero fun? No. But I’m certain that if it the attraction consisted of source material that didn’t require years of research and study of comic books and comic book movies and an acquired taste to enjoy that sort of thing to begin with, they’d have MORE fun. While that might be true, I think most Grandmas older than 60 wouldn't know most of modern Disney anyways. Why bring up what a lot of people have wanted on this board in response to my opinion on the matter? I just wish you didn’t have to have watched a movie or read a comic book to understand a theme park land/attraction.Hmm, I remember a lot of people on this board clamoring for more original attractions. Ones where none of the guests have any concept of the "source material" and wouldn't know who the characters are. But still believe that guests can have fun without knowing any of the backstory. How is this any different? So the guests that aren't familiar with the Marvel backstory would have the same experience as if it were an original attraction where they had no backstory. The experience would be exactly the same, no different. Its by going on the attraction or interacting with the characters where they get familiarity, just like they would for Pirates or Mansion.
You don't, that was my point in my last post. Just think of Avengers Campus as an original attraction where you know nothing but still enjoy it just the same because you learn while you experience it.I just wish you didn’t have to have watched a movie or read a comic book to understand a theme park land/attraction.
And when grandma is eating a chicken sandwich the size of her head, I’m sure it will be entirely self explanatory that it’s due to a biochemist that discovered subatomic particles and by entrapping these within two separate serums, he created a size-altering formula and a reversal formula. You don't, that was my point in my last post. Imagineering not doing great is almost a given at this point. Plus having to make up for the fact that a big part of your audience won’t know the base source material has probably heavily contributed to the ridiculous in your face, hyper story telling they’ve come to rely on. “Hey recruits! We need your help!” Literally verbally breaking it down for the people who’s heads are spinning. If guests can’t have fun without a lot of backstory, Imagineering hasn’t done their job well.
