So about that rumor on the Spider-Man stuntronic show - here's some news from Disneyland officials via Orange County Register:

"The jaw-dropping Spider-Man “stuntronic” robot that gracefully somersaults through the air above Avengers Campus in Disney California Adventure will add more performances to his busy crime fighting schedule just in time for the kickoff of the Christmas holiday season.

Spider-Man will fly through the skies in Avengers Campus even more times throughout the day starting Nov. 17, according to Disneyland officials.

Based on guest feedback, Disney California Adventure will add more opportunities for Spider-Man to meet with fans, according to Disneyland officials."

-------

"Media reports of the Spider-Man stuntronic show closing in November due to budget cuts have proven unfounded."

So you mean its WDWN*T (and their offshoot DLNT) again getting a rumor wrong?

Color me shocked!

If I had to guess… someone said “there will be some changes to the spider man show schedule in November” and someone ran with that.

Since they are cutting the street party / parade down to weekends only they may be adding shows but reducing the number of days for Spider-Man as well. Let’s see what really happens here.

Looks like they're sticking with it, just now it's not ending in November, but sometime later lol.

Our sources report that the show will still be ending, just not in November. Performers were informed recently that they will be let go.

The increase in performances will come right after Disneyland’s holiday season officially begins on November 15.

There are moments I feel like DLR park management does stuff just to spite that other site and it pleases me deeply. To the manager that ensures he looks like a fool always, I salute you.
Not just DLR/TDA, but all of Disney Parks management. They've angered TDO many times over the years, Tom just knows how to make enemies.

Maybe this explains the mixed signals.

"It's just the parkour Spider Man performer that may be cut."

*May* be cut?

That's solid info right there!! I'm sure they'll wind up being correct whether the parkour performer is cut or not.

Hey, everyone! Fresh Baked is always right!!!

Hopefully FB is right. I always thought that it was kind of lame to go from the super high tech stuntronic launch to Spidemran slowly being lowered down to the ground with a harness in plain sight. All that non sense before the launch was lame too.

And Millions of Spider-Man fans all groaned in unison over this comment.

The harness is suppose to be him being lowered by his web. And the "non sense" as you call it is the setup of the show. Now sure you can have the stuntronic launch without the setup. But that would just be Spider-Man randomly launching for no reason throughout the day, would be rather boring in my opinion.

Right it defeats the purpose of the part of the show that preceded it which is very cool and realistic.

Obviously I’m not implying to get rid of the pre launch part of the show but that the dialogue and him showing off his 4 year old gymnastics tumbling skills was NOT IT. Haha. They need to rework everything pre launch. Have the launch be the end of the show or just have Spider-Man come from inside or around the building. Him coming down his “web” was also just slow, clunky and anticlimatic.

As with many things that would seem like they would be "cooler" if they were done a different way, I'm guessing it comes down to safety and legal. Like they could have Spider-Man comes down really fast via the "web" to make it look more realistic but that would be neither safe nor would probably pass legal sign-off. So no they have to do it slowly so its safe and passes legal sign-off.

And it would be even less realistic and anti-climatic for Spider-Man to just walk out from the side of the building after having launched 100 ft in the air, something I know many here would roast Disney for if they did.

So we have to have a bit of "suspending of disbelief" here for trying to have a super hero experience in real life.

Nah. It makes no sense to end the show how they do now. You build this amazing stuntronic and launch it through the air only to end with Spider-Man putting a harness on and being slowly lowered to the ground? Anyway you really are good with anything aren’t you? Maybe, when you talk about Disney meeting the lower standards of their newer fans you are really just talking about yourself? lol.

So how would you do it then? You have to make it realistic to the character, have it be safe, and have to have it pass all legal and union rules. So please let me how you would do it.

You already gave the suggestion of having him walk from around the side of the building. And I'm sorry but that is just plain bad to end a show with the hero just walking from the side of the building, as its not realistic in my mind. Talk about lowering standards, that would be the lowest in my opinion as that isn't even trying. At least the way its done now is Disney trying to do something that would be within the realm of believability of the character while working within real world conditions.

Him running from around the side of the building or something like that would be 10x better than how they currently end the show.

I can see the comments now, "Disney doesn't even try anymore as they have the CM playing the webslinger walk from the side of the building after stunt show, talk about lowering standards they can't even manage to get Spider-Man right as he would swing down from the building not walk".

Sorry, but that would be roasted by everyone here including you and you know it.
